The new has finally awakened after years of dormancy, bringing something completely new to the adidas lineup. But what's the new exciting feature? For us running enthusiasts, it's often about the midsole! With the introduction of a Peba-based foam called Dreamstrike+ (made from the same components as their lightning-fast Lightstrike Pro foam) adidas has integrated a more modern foam into their regular daily running shoe. We look forward to diving into the details.

In this article, Lars and Jakob will share and compare their insights, giving you multiple perspectives and making it easier for you to decide if this shoe meets your running needs.
adidas Supernova Rise - Upper
Jakob: First and foremost, the fit. My experience was that these shoes were “true to size,” though they might lean slightly on the narrow side, but overall they fit me very well. The upper feels soft and breathable, which I like. But what really stood out to me was the soft and protective heel cap. When I'm looking for a daily training shoe, I don't want it to be too minimalist.
In summary, it's a comfortable upper that has the features I look for when seeking a .
Lars: I agree with Jakob to some extent. The upper on is very comfortable and soft! I appreciate the extra padding around the heel for comfort, but if it were up to me, I might tone that part down a bit, which I know is a personal preference. I also find the shoe a bit narrow, but after a long run in the shoe, I had no issues at all, so I'd just categorize it as a good, snug fit and a fantastic lock-down. Overall, this is a very comfortable upper.
adidas Supernova Rise - Running Feel
Lars: Now that we've come to how these shoes feel while running, the midsole offers a very balanced experience; it's neither overly soft nor firm. I think that's why I find it to be such a "runnable" shoe. The transition from heel to toe is smooth, and it just feels natural to me. I'm a heel striker, and the 10 mm heel drop could make the shoe feel a bit firmer in the forefoot for those who land further forward on their toes. I know Jakob wants shoes with a softer forefoot, but honestly, I didn't think much about it, and I really like how this midsole is built.
Jakob: I completely understand what Lars is talking about. adidas intended to show how a premium midsole can be made in a more understated, daily training expression. The new Dreamstrike+ foam is a winner and, in my opinion, a better and more modern cushion than what we're used to with Boost. The feel of the midsole makes sense when you look at how adidas has operated in the past. Even with crazy potential for innovation, adidas still keeps their new technologies grounded to ensure their products are reliable and durable.
My only wish is for a bit more foam in the forefoot. A more premium forefoot experience would better suit my running style. But as I said earlier,
really made a fantastic midsole foam that truly works!
adidas Supernova Rise - Traction
Jakob: Traction is certainly not irrelevant, especially not on rainy or icy days. We have a different rubber here, not the Continental outsole we've seen in other . It might not be quite as grippy, but it's still more than good enough for daily training, even in challenging weather. And the outsole seems durable enough to last a long time.
Lars: As Jakob says, the traction is just right. I had a run in a downpour on asphalt and gravel, and the grip was fantastic! The switch to Adiwear outsole didn't compromise traction in my opinion, and it also made the shoe lighter. So it's a thumbs up from me. And with the amount of Adiwear, I definitely think we can rely on these shoes for many, many miles.
adidas Supernova Rise - Stability
Lars: Let's talk a bit about stability. These shoes are neutral running shoes with a stable feel, even with the higher “stack height.” There's good support around the heel, and the new Support Rod System they've introduced for stability is a great modern addition that provides some stability without making the shoes feel stiff or clunky.
Jakob: I think these shoes provide stability without feeling clunky or too stiff. The EVA foam rods in the midsole contribute to what I'd call "dynamic stability." It's nice to see this blend of modern features. With a 10 mm heel drop, it's a win for me, especially with my history of Achilles issues.
Just to be clear, this isn't a stability shoe, but it's definitely a stable neutral shoe that will help runners who want a reliable shoe that supports you without being too much.
adidas Supernova Rise - Recommendations
Jakob: So who should consider buying these ? I see them as a great choice for those who just want to enjoy their daily runs. They're not too specialized for recovery or tempo runs. I think they fit on the shoe shelf for those who need a shoe when they just want to go for a run, without overthinking what and why.
Lars: are versatile , capable of handling a bit of everything, but they shine most during daily runs. They're not overly complicated; the midsole has a more modern bounce, and they're just here to make all your runs comfortable.
