Test: Nike Streakfly 2 – Speed and lightness in a fine blend

Streakfly is the underrated sibling to Nike's renowned Vaporfly and Alphafly series. With this update, they've got a fierce one.

Last time I described Nike Vaporfly 4 , and now we look at the sibling Nike Streakfly 2 . When I look at Streakfly 2, I see clear similarities between the two shoes but also significant differences. So, you can benefit from reading about Vaporfly 4 here after finishing here.

Both shoes from Nike are designed with weight and speed in mind, making them perfect choices for faster runs and track events, but there are differences that mean each one should be chosen for the right battle.

    Lightest in the game

Streakfly 2 is ultralight; at 144 grams, it's likely the lightest real shoe I've held. This is due to several factors, especially the slightly lower stack height of 27mm in the heel and 23mm in the forefoot (4mm drop) compared to last year. Less foam, but lower weight and higher aggression.

This makes it particularly suited for turns on the track or achieving stability during acceleration and turns at high speeds: The shoe is geared for training down to road mile pace. A distance that's truly making a comeback.

Another key detail about Streakfly 2 is – like on Vaporfly – the elastic laces, which enhance the already excellent fit. It makes it easy to get the shoe to fit snugly and comfortably around the foot – since each foot is different, and that's exactly what the elastic properties accommodate.

A small detail like laces might sound trivial. But it truly makes the shoes feel like they were made for your foot. And a good and comfortable fit is especially important at high speeds when you're really pushing the pace.

Though optimized for track and shorter road distances, some might also choose Streakfly 2 for 5-10 km distances. Especially if lightness is your top priority, but you also want the responsive ZoomX foam and carbon plate – similar to the new Vaporfly 4.

    Spikes without spikes

For me, Streakfly 2 is the perfect interval shoe for faster training, strides, "sprint" training and especially the upcoming summer track intervals. It combines solid grip and stability with a fit that feels natural and comfortable.

When looking at the shoes, one gets associations to spikes . The difference between the heel and forefoot is often seen in this type of shoe, built on a spike last. But with Streakfly 2, you avoid many of the risks that come with spikes. The shoe is more gentle on the body than spikes, making it attractive for those who might be intimidated by them.

The shoes also offer a more natural feel than other carbon - and training shoes that have higher stack height.

It's the ideal choice if you're seeking speed, comfort, and efficiency in one Nike shoe .
