A stable running shoe isn´t just a stable running shoe. You need to choose the shoe which meets your needs. Perhaps you want luxurious comfort or more dynamic comfort?
Regardless, Saucony have released two amazing stability shoes, which I am very excited about after testing them. Even if I am not actually a pronation-runner.
One of them is Saucony Hurricane 23 and the other one is Saucony Guide 14. Find out all about them in the video-review below.

Why are Saucony Guide 14 and Saucony Hurricane 23 so popular?
These two models have one purpose in common. They provide plenty of support and make sure your foot doesn´t "roll inward" towards the arch during your landing. But their support is designed in two different versions - so you have the option of choosing the exact right shoe for you.
In short; In Hurricane 23 I experienced amazing, luxurious comfort while Guide 14 provided really dynamic and versatile comfort.

Get max. cushioning with Saucony Hurricane 23
Hurricane is the Saucony running shoe which provides most cushioning. Saucony Hurricane 23 is made for the runner who needs a stable running shoe which can almost handle an endless number of miles. Its a real workhorse for long and daily runs where you will feel like hovering on the the softest and most bouncy cloud run after run.
Hurricane 23 is very similar to ASICS Gel-Kayano and Mizuno Wave Horizon, but I still think there are certain areas where it sets itself apart from the competition.

Saucony have hit a sweet spot with its Hurrican 23 upper
I think Saucony have hit a sweet spot with its upper. It has a perfect and flexible fit welcoming your foot with the softest hug. The complete upper feels like a huge memory-foam which is still very breathable.

A sliding rolling sensation from heel to toe in Hurricane 23
Unlike many other pronation shoes which can quickly feel a bit clumsy (at least that is my impression as a non-pronation runner), I experienced a sliding rolling sensation from heel to toe.
Sauconys PWRRUN+ midsole feels surprisingly light (even if Hurricane is fairly heavy), responsive and it has this crazy, luxurious sensation. Even during my longer runs, I still had a different freshness in my legs because Hurricane 23 is just so soft.
Putting it differently, Hurricane 23 feels as soft as butter, as strong as an oxe and as loyal as a dog.

Saucony Guide 14 is more dynamic
The other model, Saucony Guide 14 is more similar to Mizuno Wave Inspire and ASICS GT-2000.
In a way Saucony Guide 14 have also more common features with Hurricane 23. And then again perhaps not quite so because I feel that Guide 14 is for the stable runner who wants a dynamic shoe which is soft but not too soft.

Guide 14 is perfect for all types of runs
Guide 14 is truly perfect for all types of runs as it is somewhat lighter and therefore perfect for long, short, fast and easy-going runs. The structure has a great fit and provides a light, versatile sensation and not least a faster running experience compared to Hurricane 23.
Guide 14 is engineered with a PWRRUN midsole which is slightly firmer than PWRRUN+ in Hurricane 23. I still think it feels pleasantly soft for the long runs but I noticed it is more "swift" and responsive when I speed up.

Guide-midsole technology ensures great stabilty
Thanks to Sauconys Guide midsole technology, I was never in doubt that my feet were 100% stabilized. Just like in Hurricane 23, the support is there but you don´t feel it which I think is a huge plus.

Durable outsole with great grip - Guide 14
I also think its important to highlight the outsole where Saucony have designed a rubber sole using their TRIFLEX-design. In practical terms this means that the rubber provides a better grip on asphalt and increases the durability while the TRIFLEX-design creates these rubber sole grooves which provides far better flexibility.
I really felt that the shoe follows my movements - with the knowledge that it provides support on the inside.

Guide 14 fit provides natural movement
In total I think the Guide 14 fit is very typical of Saucony. It has this somewhat "triangular" fit which locks in the heel and secures the midfoot but allows the forefoot to move naturally.
Therefore I would also describe Guide 14 as being gentle, efficient and supportive.

With Saucony Hurricane 23 and Guide 14, you´ll be in great hands
Regardless which model you´re most smitten by, Hurricane 23 or Guide 14, you will get a running shoe worth all your money. Either you get a workhorse with luxurious comfort or you get dynamic comfort and an enormous versatility.
And if you haven´t tried Sauconys before, you´ll be in great hands with these shoes!
