Adizero Boston 10 is a huge new release from ADIDAS. A running shoe which really provides this tingling, nerve-wrecking and fast sensation of racing - only for training.
If you use this shoe for your pace - and interval training, I am completely convinced that you will set new racing records - perhaps even during your workouts. Its not because the Boston-model is a new revelation from ADIDAS, but this is version 10 which really differs from its predecessor.

ADIDAS Adizero Boston 9 vs. ADIDAS Adizero Boston 10
I recently tested and reviewed the predecessor, ADIDAS Adizero Boston 9. A shoe, which I from Day 1 became completely in love with 1) thanks to its design, 2) its responsiveness and 3) its light upper. But I needed to get used to the low stack height and the fact that it has limited foam which provides a very firm and direct touch with the surface.

BUT! Now the successor and the latest version has already been launched, ADIDAS Adizero Boston 10. A shoe which has practically answered all my prayers. My great hypes over Boston 9 have been preserved - and actually become even more crazy in a good way while my criticism has been embraced.
Now ADIDAS have launched a running shoe which is both 1) cool in terms of design, 2) extremely responisve, 3) has an ultra-light upper, 4) and an almost perfect stack height for a racer in terms of providing great comfort without compromising its touch with the surface.

Additional (and new) foam has been added to the Adizero Boston 10 midsole
It is SO cool. Even for a highly pregnant woman like myself, I can really feel the effect of this shoe, and I really can´t wait to retry it when I have to get back in shape after giving birth.
Just by looking at Boston 9 and Boston 10 you can spot a difference in the midsole. Boston 10 has been designed with a higher stack height, with 44mm in the heel and 34mm in the forefoot where the measurements of Boston 9 was 26mm in the heel and 16mm in the forefoot. So, a huge difference, but only positive, I think.

While Boston 9 was designed with a Boost and Lightstrike-foam midsole, Boston 10 is now engineered with a mix of Lightstrike and Lightstrike-PRO. This means that the bottom midsole layer still consists of ADIDAS’ light, comfortable, more durable and responisive Lightstrike-foam. And the top layer - and really the biggest difference between the 9 and the 10 - now consists of ADIDAS’ absolutely most responisve foam, Lightstrike PRO, which is also used in ADIDAS´ fastest running shoe, Adios Pro.

EnergyRods provides much more responsiveness in Boston 10
And then to put the icing on the cake in terms of responsiveness, the new EnergyRods have been added to the midsole. Its not a carbon plate but the effect is somewhat similar. EnergyRods are carbon fibre rods which provide a rigidity which creates propulsion and thereby limits the loss of energy in the rolling motion from the heel to the toe – however, not as much as a carbon plate. But this is exactly what takes part in making this shoe ideal as your fastest training partner and "promotes" the running shoe to a specific racer with a carbon plate like ADIDAS Adios Pro or Nike Air Zoom Alphafly Next%.
The combination of the two types of foam and Energy Pods takes part in providing an insanely propulsive sensation while you may still enjoy a much softer and comfortable landing contrary to the 9. Its very much like the feeling I have in Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next%. Whether you should choose one or the other is probably a question of religion but after having tried Boston 10, I have had plenty of doubts concerning which shoe I should primarily use for my fast training sessions.

Adizero Boston 10 is an obvious choice for pacy workouts and racing
Whereas I think that Boston 9 was primarily a running shoe for shorter, pacy workouts and short races, Boston 10 can in my opinion be used for all types of pacy workouts and races including marathons. And if you are a relatively experienced runner, it can easily be used as your daily training shoe for all your runs because it has more foam to provide more comfort and responsiveness.

"Race"-upper for slimfit comfort and minimal weight
The upper and outsole in the Boston 10 are as good as in the Boston 9. An ultra-light, tight and breathable upper, which emphasizes that this is a fast shoe where efforts have been made to minimize the weight - which is why the upper is thinner contrary to a classic high-mileage training shoe. At the same time the ADIDAS’ Continental rubber compound in the outsole provides an incredible grip regardless of weather conditions.
I struggle to find anything negative about Boston 10. Perhaps I preferred the design in the Boston 9 but the 10´also looks great. I think its cool. You get a sensation of racing for everyday-running - and who doesn´t enjoy that?

ADIDAS Adizero Boston 10; a sustainable choice of running shoe
And just to finish on another great note, Boston 10 is part of the ADIDAS’ Primegreen-collection which means that the shoe is produced in recyclable materials which not only makes this shoe a terrific choice for pacy workouts - and racing but also a sustainable choice!
