Introduction
If you want a shoe with a great amount of softness for the longer, more leisurely runs, then take a look at the Asics GEL-Nimbus 24. If you want a running shoe for your tempo runs, which is a little firmer, but still offers a good amount of softness and bounce, then Asics' Novablast 2 is the shoe to buy.
And if you want a shoe that can do a bit of both, then the Asics GEL-Cumulus 24 is the right shoe for you.
The Asics GEL-Cumulus 24 is a versatile running shoe that is suited to many different forms of running. The shoe is suitable for both the longer, more leisurely runs, but also gives you the possibility to increase your speed for tempo workouts.

The major upgrades
The midsole has been renewed in the Asics GEL-Cumulus 24. Asics has replaced their FLYTEFOAM with FLYTEFOAM Blast, which provides a softer feeling when running in the shoe. FLYTEFOAM Blast is a soft type of foam, but not as soft as FLYTEFOAM Blast+, which is found in e.g., the Asics GEL-Nimbus 24.
Personally, I like the fact that the GEL-Cumulus 24 gives me both a soft feeling when landing on the ground, but at the same time gives me the feeling of slight responsiveness when toeing off. The combination of softness and responsiveness allows me to use the shoe in a variety of different running training. It also gives me the flexibility to head off on a run without necessarily having decided whether to run fast or slow.
The other big update is the heel drop. The drop has been reduced from 10 mm to 8 mm. At the same time, the stack height has been increased by a few mm, so you get more foam in the shoe. And so you're probably thinking: well hasn't the shoe been made much heavier as a result? But here the answer is: No! The shoe has increased in weight by approximately 6 g, and when you equate that with how much foam and comfort has been added, I think it's an excellent upgrade.
Differences between the Asics GEL-Nimbus 24 and the Asics GEL-Cumulus 24
The Asics GEL-Cumulus 24 can in many ways be compared to the Asics GEL-Nimbus 24. The two running shoes are both neutral running shoes for daily training. However, there are some considerable differences between the two shoes. In the table below, I have presented the two shoes in relation to each other, so you can quickly and easily get an overview of some of the significant differences between the two shoes.

Conclusion
The Asics GEL-Cumulus 24 is a truly versatile running shoe for your daily training. Regardless of whether you want to run far or just a little, fast or slow, this shoe is suitable. Of course the shoe is not quite as soft as the Asics GEL-Nimbus 24, or as responsive as the Asics Novablast 2, but the shoe places itself comfortably between these two and allows you to engage in many different forms of running. This shoe is well suited for those who only really want one pair of running shoes that can be used for several different types of running training.
