After two years of development, Nike Vomero is finally back in a completely new version: Nike Air Zoom Vomero 15.
A high-mileage training shoe for the neutral runner - a shoe which has been updated from top to bottom with improved cushioning and a more robust outsole.
Max. padding and cushioning
Nike Air Zoom Vomero is Nikes most padded training shoe for the neutral runner, and may be compared to models like ASICS Nimbus and New Balance 1080. Its a shoe which is especially well suited for longer runs and a great model for the runner who is looking for the latest Nike technologies. Vomero 15 has a 100 mm drop weighing 260 g in size 40. It may seem like a lot but Vomero is designed to provide max.comfort through max. padding and max. cushioning - and not designed to run fast. And you get plenty of comfort in this shoe.

Vomero in a completely new disguise
Compared to Vomero 14, Vomero 15 has been totally redesigned. This version has a more padded upper, the React-midsole has been replaced with a Zoom X-midsole and yet more rubber has been added to the outsole to increase its durability.
As you may see on the inside of the attached tongue, the Vomero 15 midsole consists of three different components:
In the forefoot the shoe has a large Air Zoom-unit which is twice the size from the previous Vomero-models to ensure increased comfort and provide more cushioning at every step.
New midsole
In the area around the heel, in the the core of the midsole, Vomero 15 is designed with a full Zoom X-midsole as well as supportive SR-02-foam at the bottom to provide extra durability og and to protect the Zoom X-compound which is placed in the center of the midsole. Replacing the React - with a Zoom-X midsole provides a more soft and bouncy run compared to Vomero 14. Personally I love the change in midsole as the shoe has become much softer and more energetic than the previous version. At the same time the cushioning has clearly been improved.
Added rubber on the outsole
The complete Vomero 15 outsole has in this version been covered in a thick and durable High Abrasion rubber compound built to extend the life of the shoe.
Actually its rare to see THAT much rubber in a shoe as most manufacturers use as little as possible to save weight. But in this case Nike have decided to go full out and build a very durable shoe - and this provides Vomero 15 with a lot more miles in it.
I would be surprised if this shoe doesn´t reach at least a 1000 kms. The outsole traction also works well in Vomero 15. However, be aware that it can become slightly slippery on wet surfaces.

Great and soft upper
In terms of the upper, Nike Vomero 15 is one of the most comfortable shoes I have tried for a long time. The upper is built in stretchable mesh which adjusts well to the foot and provides great freedom of motion for your toes. The instep around the heel is produced in a soft, padded fabric which leans well into the ankle and makes the shoe more comfortable. The mesh in the upper is relateively thick which makes the shoe slightly less breathable and warmer than the previous version.
It works well with the current weather but the shoe could get quite hot in the summer. But honestly I think its a small prize to pay given the shoe´s amazing comfort.
Increased stability around the heel
In addition the heel area is produced in tough external platic which guarantees stability and keeps the heel in place so it avoids slipping to the side during running. A great - and and supportive detail making the shoe more safe - especially during longer runs as your muscles get tired.
Spacious fit
In terms of size, you´ll find Vomero 15 at the larger end of the scale as its designed with plenty of room in the toe-box. Compared to previous versions, it seems longer and wider which makes it perfect for runners with wide feet. I tried the shoe in a size 40 but I could easily have gone down half a size. So, pay attention to this if you´re planning to buy the shoe.
An energetic and responsive running experience.
Compared to other running shoes with max.padding, Vomero 15 provides a firmer sensation thanks to its large Zoom Air forefoot unit. Personally I have used Vomero 15 for my daily runs as it works well for different purposes:
It has enough padding for longer runs at easy-going pace but at the same time it is also responsive enough to handle more speedy runs on short stretches.
In spite of being relatively heavy, Vomero 15 provides an incredibly comfortable and energetic run. Its designed for comfort for longer runs - and it really provides. In total a great high-mileage training shoe for longer runs when you need extra cushioning and not least comfort.
