Today, let's discuss one of Nike's most iconic running shoes – the Nike Structure. Reaching its 26th edition says a lot about its popularity, which is noteworthy. Another attention-grabber is when top running stars choose a stability shoe like Nike Structure. Olympic champion at 1500m, Cole Hocker, has done so, along with teammates Cooper Teare and Sinclaire Johnson (former American champion at 1500m). That's interesting.
Sadly, not everyone can win Olympic gold at 1500m, and most have learned to accept that. Fair enough. But maybe we could learn from Cole Hocker, as many of us runners could use more foot stability sometimes.

Nike Structure, along with Pegasus and Vomero, has been selected as one of three models to carry the training shoe legacy from Nike. Structure offers stability and, like the other two models, will be available in three editions: Icon, the shoe discussed here, and a Plus and Premium version. This new silo strategy is what Nike builds its training shoes around.
Nike Structure 26 - The Upper
I must honestly admit, I haven't run much in stability shoes over the years. Not a deliberate choice, just more curious about neutral training shoes. But my last test with stability elements (Tempus) was great. So, I was eager to lace up my Structure 26 and hit the trails.
Structure 26 has been updated in several areas, without a complete redefinition, unlike my experience with Vomero 18. The upper is made of engineered mesh, hard to pinpoint exactly, but it has lots of structure, giving a stable feel around the foot. Nike focused on comfort around the heel and tongue, and it worked well. Overall, it's an upper designed to keep your foot in place, and that's really nice.
The upper is on the warmer side, while I find Structure 26 narrower in fit, especially at the toe box.
Nike Structure 26 - The Midsole:
The midsole often gets the big headlines in reviews – and it does this time too. Without grabbing front-page with a breaking banner. The midsole is updated to be exclusively ReactX, combined with a support system called Midfoot Support System. The shoe's stack height is 38 mm in the heel and 28 mm in the forefoot, giving a 10 mm drop.
I think it's the natural next step for a shoe like Structure to have a full-length ReactX midsole. Adding ZoomX wouldn't make sense here – maybe we'll see it in the Plus or Premium version. Exciting. The midsole is firm, yet not dead, and the Midfoot Support System keeps your foot centered without too many twists. Exactly what you seek in a stability shoe.
Nike Structure 26 - How does it feel?

I've used Structure 26 on various runs, and I think I understand why pros like Cole Hocker and Sinclaire Johnson train in it. It's like a good friend, you need to know, but can't do without once you've got it.
Structure 26 is a workhorse, I'm pretty sure Cole Hocker would call it that, and now I'm on his team, so I call it that too. An untiring workhorse, simply.
As an experienced runner, I've used the shoe on days after hard intervals, when the body and tendons were a bit stressed. I've also used it to and from track workouts and for regular easy runs up to an hour. Somehow the shoe feels lighter than it is, and I think it's because the foam isn't ultra-soft, but more responsive. Yet significantly more comfortable than previous versions.
Nike Structure 26 - Who should consider this shoe?
I think Structure 26 appeals to a broad audience. Besides Olympic winners and types like me with years of experience, I also believe this shoe will be useful for beginners needing stability.
Nike Structure 26 helps challenge the notion that stability shoes are boring, and I'm thrilled. It does so by being modern in design and materials, relatively light, and with overall high comfort from top to bottom.
Now, I'll run my Structure 26 to exhaustion, if possible, and look forward to getting the Structure 26 Plus and Premium. With this Icon version, expectations are even higher.
