FROM ASPHALTED BIKE PATHS TO ACROBATIC TRACKS
Running is many things. Running can have many purposes. Running can take place in many locations.
Perhaps you've been accustomed to running in specific places. Places that resemble each other. Maybe even the same route. Week after week. With the same surface. The same view. Out the front door, onto the bike path and then "around the round." And if it works well for you, there's no one saying you have to change it.
If, on the other hand, you begin to find your runs monotonous and trivial or notice that your runs are developing into something that just needs to be gotten over with, it might be time to stop and consider whether you should take your running a new way. Both literally in terms of a new route, and figuratively: Could trail running be something for you? If you’d like to read more about how to get started with trail running, we have great inspiration available in the form of articles from RunningXpert.
PUT ON YOUR WOMEN'S TRAIL SHOES – AND TAKE YOUR RUNNING NEW WAYS
If you need a breath of fresh air, a varying surface, and something new for the eyes, trail running might be just what can give you and your running a form of artificial resuscitation. Or at least provide a diversion in your way of thinking and experiencing running,
Here’s where the trail shoe comes into the picture. Whether you are a dedicated trail runner or have just felt the urge to give your running new dimensions in the form of new terrain and new techniques, women's trail shoes are your most important remedy. The road running shoe can thus be advantageously swapped out for a running shoe targeted at trail running to give you the best experience. An experience that running is many things.
If you like, you can watch our videos about starting a new discipline. Here, Malte is guided and taught by trail expert Simon Grimstrup in a form of trail school. Quickly, you'll be gently taken into the trail universe and receive great tips, such as how to dive into trying this form of running, what your line of sight and focal point should be, and how your cadence (speed and length of your steps) positively affects your running. You'll find four different lessons – in the link below, you are referred to part 1, which maps out how you become a better trail runner.
You can easily find the following sections under our inspiration tab at RunningXpert.
STAND FIRM WITH YOUR WOMEN'S TRAIL SHOES - AVOID FALLS
Just women's trail shoes become essential if you switch the bike path out for a challenging track. Or indeed, if the asphalt is swapped out for a gravel path through the forest. Women's trail shoes are actually indispensable when you want to take up trail running. Ordinary running shoes will quickly fall short in these environments. You will experience limitations and, unfortunately, also more easily sustain an injury since the surface demands the shoe's grip.
It's about being able to stand firm on the surface, both uphill and downhill, so you gain the courage to maintain a certain speed, even though the surface feels more uncertain or directly challenging. Your trail shoe gives you this experience with its good and secure grip designed for the different surface.
TRAIL SHOES FOR HIKING OR RUNNING
A women's trail shoe can be used for both running and walking in hilly and challenging terrain. If you do not have the courage or the opportunity to move in running in exciting terrain, you can of course easily use a pair of trail shoes for walking. Trail shoes for hiking are definitely a thing. You may also need to walk your upcoming running route a certain number of times before it feels right to cover the same route running. There can be a safety in knowing the path before you suddenly come rushing over loose stones, under wildly hanging branches, up and down slopes, and quickly around sharp turns. On a trail path, you can never completely guard yourself. It does not necessarily look exactly the same from one time to the next. It is not polished and flat like most bike paths, but can offer more unpredictabilities in the form of, for example, branches on the ground, roots, loose stones, or muddy mud. But that's exactly what can make your run more present and sensing in the situation. Which can take you away from the more monotonous bike path and breathe more life and diversion into your running experience.
Use your women's trail shoes for walking or enjoy your trail shoe in speed on the trail path.
NARROW, WINDING, AND MUDDY FOREST PATHS?
You might think trail running always occurs on narrow, winding, and muddy forest paths. The answer is no. Trail running is many things and occurs in many graduated forms. From completely wide and flat gravel paths in the forest to the more technically demanding trail tracks, which offer various surprises and require a high degree of attention, technique, and practice. But actually, only 80% of your route needs to occur on something other than asphalt before you can call it trail running. Thus, it is also established that trail running can be many things and the challenges are graduated.
Whatever the case, we can't avoid noting that a lot changes when running from the bike path along the country road is moved out into the forest. Not only the sounds and your view and general sensory apparatus. Also your substrate, thus appears more indefinable and unpredictable – naturally to varying degrees.
Whether the substrate is characterized by mud and large irregularities or is more to be described as an ordinary gravel road, women's trail shoes come into their own.
TECHNICAL FINESSES REQUIRE GOOD TRAIL SHOES AND PRACTICE
It is almost obvious that the more demanding a trail running terrain is, the greater demands are placed on your trail shoe. In terms of grip, protection, and stability. A technical track in hilly terrain, which can also offer wet, slippery, and muddy elements, must be able to stand firm, protect your feet, and ensure as best as possible that you do not twist your ankle.
Grip:
The grip on a trail shoe refers to the part of the shoe that has direct contact with the substrate. Here it becomes important that your trail shoe for hiking or trail running can stand firm. The studs under the shoe can vary in shape and millimeters.
Protection:
During a trail run, it is not unusual for your trail shoe to come into close contact with stones, branches, roots, and other natural obstacles on the path. The shoe itself must be able to withstand this, but the shoe should also ideally be a kind of comfortable defensive shield for your feet. The durability of the upper also matters.
Stability:
If you run in very challenging terrain such as rocky pieces and loose stones, where it may be difficult to stand firm, it is advantageous that your trail shoe provides good stability.
If you are curious about the capabilities and performance of trail shoes in demanding terrain, we recommend you read Max and Lars' review - and watch their video - about two different trail shoes from Saucony. Here you get a good sense of what different trail shoes can mean for the running experience. This knowledge can be transferred to other trail shoes when you read about these and have to make one or more choices.
