DESIGN AND DISPLAY 

The Garmin Instinct has a robust design that can withstand the physical environment. Instinct is designed to the US military standard 810G for heat, shock and water resistance. The watch's exterior is of fiber-reinforced polymer that strengthens and stabilizes the watch. 

The screen is of chemically tempered glass, which increases the screen's resilience against impact. The sufficiently high contrast allows viewing in direct sunlight. The screen display is in raw black and white with 128x128 pixels - the contrast and the pixilation is therefore exceptionally fine. 

The Garmin Instinct features a specially designed silicone ventilating strap that can be easily changed. The ventilating strap provides a perfect fit and ensures that the watch does not snag. 

GPS, GLONASS AND GALILEO 

The Garmin Instinct is a so-called "GPS watch", but it is so much more. The Instinct can receive and send signals to GLONASS, (the Russian satellite system), and the newer Galileo satellite system, (the European satellite system), ensuring ultra-precise satellite connection especially in challenging terrain, such as tall buildings and densely populated woodland. 

The Garmin Instinct uses 3D speed, which helps measure speed more precisely during outdoor activities. 3D speed is measured using the built-in barometric sensor and actual vertical height above ground. It is especially useful for a more precise measurement when hiking and training on inclines. 

ULTRATRAC MODE 

The Garmin Instinct can be set to UltraTrac mode to save battery life in GPS mode (GLONASS and Galileo mode). In UltraTrac mode, battery life is up to 40 hours on one charge. This ensures that you have plenty of battery life to explore the outdoors. 

GARMIN ELEVATE ™ 

The Garmin Instinct is designed with the Garmin Elevate ™ wrist-based heart rate monitor, which is a watch-side sensor that measures the speed of the blood flow with optical light and can measure your heart rate. 

The Instinct is compatible with Garmin's soft strap heart rate monitor   and   Garmin HRM-DUAL heart rate monitor, should a more accurate pulse display be required during activities.

The Instinct has built-in accelerometer that measures steps and distance as well as flights of stairs climbed. The watch also measures intensity minutes, providing you with an overview of duration of activity and increased heart rate throughout the day. 

Garmin Elevate ™ wrist-based heart rate monitor monitors the heart rate throughout the day. The built-in heart rate monitor measures stress levels and calculates daily calorie intake. 

SMART NOTIFICATIONS 

The Garmin Instinct is a smart watch that informs you of incoming calls, text messages, and other notifications through Bluetooth. This enables you to keep up to date without having your phone in your hand. 

Weather forecast updates, find my phone and music management are also among the features. 

LIVE TRACK 

LiveTrack allows you to keep track of family and friends during your training sessions. Having your smartphone during training or competitions enables you to share your position with friends and family allowing them to keep an eye on you on the route and keep up to date with your location. 

CLOCK FUNCTIONS 

Garmin Elevate has all the standard clock functions of any watch. In addition to time and date, the Instinct shows sunrise/sunset times, and features an alarm clock, stopwatch, hours, and automatic summer/winter time. 

The watch automatically synchronizes to time zone changes via GPS time synchronization when on signal.
