Running features
- Daily Suggested Workouts Lite – Get suggestions for individually tailored running training from your watch. Based on your fitness level and training load as well as your recovery, the watch recommends specific training sessions for you. Is it time to push hard or should you take an easy run? The watch has the answer. Although it's a "lite" version, the function isn't as intelligent as in the more expensive watches, where you can get more precise suggestions for what you need to train, but the lite version will still provide great value for beginners.
- PacePro (Lite) – With PacePro you can run more strategically, ensuring you use your energy correctly. You enter a route on the watch and indicate your desired average pace or finish time. Then the watch calculates how fast you should run at different times, so you don't exhaust yourself on uphill stretches or miscalculate the route. You can also tell the watch that you want to run a negative split, and then the watch will make sure to tell you how fast you should run. Because it is a lite version ofyou cannot see the route on the watch, which you would be able to on the more expensive Garmin watches, but the pace suggestions are just as precise in the lite version as in the full version.
- Recovery-time – The watch estimates how long it will take before you are fully recovered after a workout
- Race Predictor – Forerunner 55 estimates how fast you can run 5km, 10km, half marathon, and marathon. The watch bases its estimates on your VO2Max and your training history.
- Finish time – Choose a different distance and a desired finish time or pace and keep track throughout, whether you need to increase the speed or can relax a bit.
- Cadence alerts – Set your desired running cadence on the watch, and if you run with more or fewer steps the watch will alert you.
- Intervals Mode – Load your interval sessions on the watch, so you know how far to run on each interval, how long to rest, and how many repetitions to run.
Health features
- Sleep monitoring – If you wear the watch while you sleep, it will analyze how long you have been in the various sleep stages.
- Intensity minutes – Garmin ensures that all activity is counted in the overall account. So when your pulse is higher than your average resting heart rate, it will start an activity. It could be that you are cycling, or walking towards the supermarket.
- Fitness age – Based on your training level, Garmin tells you how “old” your body is. If you are 36 years old, but in super shape, Garmin might say your body is like a 22-year-old’s.
- All day respiration – How many breaths you take per minute.
In addition, the watch can change watch faces and other visual expressions on the screen through Garmin Connect, so you can personalize your watch.
