Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire is the ultimate outdoor and multisport watch with a built-in TOPO map of all of Europe. Fenix 5X Sapphire is the largest watch in the Fenix 5 collection and has a diameter of 51 mm – the same size as Fenix 3. Fenix 5X Sapphire is supplied with an optical heart rate monitor in the wrist and works by sending light through the skin, reading your heart rate by looking at your bloodstream. With a wrist-based heart rate monitor, you can track your heart rate, stress, sleep, and other activities 24/7. You can add a heart rate monitor strap to get a more accurate reading, and a Running Dynamics POD for a more accurate measurement of distance. The reading of your heart rate does not work under water.

The Fenix 5 collection replaces the Fenix 3. It is the perfect outdoor, multisport, triathlon, and running watch for the one who wants a cool watch that can endure hardship no matter what activity it goes through. The Fenix 5 should have been named Fenix 4, but since Fenix 4 sounds like something related to bad luck in Chinese, Garmin jumped to Fenix 5.

The software for Fenix 5X Sapphire is larger with even more performance sports such as running, biking, swimming, trail running, rowing, indoor training, triathlon, and outdoor activities like hiking, stand up paddling, climbing, skiing, etc. Fenix 5X Sapphire is thereby a multisport watch that works for many different types of athletes.

Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire has a better screen than its predecessor Fenix 3. The screen has 240 x 240 pixels (Fenix 3 had 218 x 218 pixels), and it has 64 colors compared to 16 colors for the Fenix 3. It therefore provides a much better user experience and contrast.

Fenix 5X Sapphire has a battery life of up to 24 hours with the GPS on, and 336 hours with the GPS off. You can turn on the UltraTrac during an activity, so that the battery life is increased to up to 60 hours with the GPS on. UltraTrac works by having the watch send its GPS signal at a slower interval, thereby saving battery life. The gyroscope is new for the Fenix 5 collection and is available in all its models. The gyroscope helps, among other things, to measure the distance more precisely – even with the UltraTrac on.

Fenix 5X Sapphire is so far Garmin’s most advanced multisport and outdoor watch, and it is filled with the newest technologies that help you get the maximal output of each and every training session. The watch tells you about your improvement, tiredness, and provides recovery recommendations. By using an external heat rate monitor (HRM-RUN or HRM TRI), you get useful information about your running dynamics, helping you optimize your running through cadence, stride length, verticality, right/left balance, and much more.

Garmin Fenix 5X Sapphire comes with a large number of preinstalled widgets such as Training Status, which tells you about your training effectiveness and how stressed your body is, for example. It collects your activities and gives you a status overview. The watch also measures Vo2-max and FTP for both biking and running.

TOPO MAP:

Topo map stands for a topographical map that not only has roads like car navigation, but also has pathways in woods and mountains. It is in that way a map that can guide you everywhere on your run or trekking trip in the wilderness. You can go on a run or trek without having to worry about where you came from. With TracBack, the watch helps you find your way back to the start. You can also use the watch and its topo map like a normal navigation system and look for points of interest, etc. Fenix 5X Sapphire can set up three running routes from a given point, if you do not know the area – Fenix 5X Sapphire guides you on and on.
