Are you finding it difficult to work out which are the best running shoes on the market right now? Don't worry, we'll help you. We have tested several hundred pairs of shoes this year. As a result, we have compiled a list in no particular order of 6 pairs of shoes we can recommend.
Saucony Endorphin Speed 3
The reason for why the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 is such a great shoe is the combination it offers of a good foot roll-through movement, and the great level of bounce and comfort - all wrapped into a very lightweight package. I don't think i've ever worn a shoe before that has been able to fulfill all my running needs just as well!
Saucony Endorphin Speed 1 & 2 have always been favourites on the market and the difference between these two models and the new Endorphin Speed 3 is quite considerable. The base of the shoe is wider, the midsole is more bouncy, which results in a softer and more comfortable running experience - without compromising on speed! This is a truly unique and very impressive shoe!
Salomon Glide Max
Salomon Glide Max is the ultimate comfort shoe! The Energy Surge midsole is both very bouncy and soft. Unlike the adidas Adizero Boston 11 and the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3, this shoe is a high mileage running shoe with a lot of softness and comfort. I would recommend this shoe for all kinds of running where you don't have to think about your speed. It is the ultimate long distance shoe, since it will give you a supreme feeling of comfort on your run.
On top of this, the shoe fits perfectly into the lifestyle look that Salomon is dominating currently. Salomon Glide Max is a stylish shoe that prioritises your comfort when you are out and about running.
adidas Adizero Boston 11
As an upgrade of last year's adidas Adizero Boston 10, the Boston 11 has a lighter and more minimalist upper, which distinguishes it quite a lot from its predecessor. It's not a shoe you should buy if you value comfort a lot, but rather a shoe to buy if you want to run fast – and look great whilst doing so!
adidas Adizero Boston 11 is a shoe designed as a high mileage running shoe, but the reason it's on the list is that it's really fun when you turn up your pace. Run fast and you will activate the shoe's beast mode!
Although it is a very high shoe (almost 4 cm), it offers great stability. It is a shoe that will work really well for runners who want shoes that boast both stability and plate technology.
New Balance 1080 v12
If New Balance were only allowed to design one shoe, then it would be the New Balance 1080 v12. This is just a fantastic shoe that appeals to a lot of runners; a shoe that can handle most things - whether it's a fast paced trip or a more leisurely run. How New Balance has managed to upgrade its standard EVA foam to Fresh Foam X, which is so springy and comfortable, is a mystery for me, since I can't quite believe how it's possible. In any case, it works very well as an all-round shoe that can be worn for all types of training.
The Hyperknit upper is also an important characteristic of the new New Balance 1080 v12, which has a snug fit around the midfoot, a new heel cap that should fit better, and a forefoot that is stretchy and comfortable. This is truly a world-class high mileage running shoe.
Asics GEL-Nimbus 24
The king of comfortable high mileage running shoes has undergone quite a transition this year. And in my opinion, the shoe has been improved upon greatly. If you compare it with last year's model, the Asics Nimbus 24 has been given a new midsole filled with the amazing Flyte Foam Blast+ material, which is soft and incredibly springy. All this has been wrapped into a lightweight and very comfortable package.
The upper of the Asics Nimbus 24 is both stylish and breathable, and features a new and elastic tongue that is slightly long. That being said, there is no way around the fact that this shoe is very comfortable.
There really isn't much this shoe can't do- it's better, faster, more versatile and more comfortable than ever. Asics Nimbus 24 hasn't just undergone a small upgrade - it completely outperforms last year's model!
Hoka Bondi 8
The Hoka Bondi series is well known by runners as a maximal cushioning running shoe. The Hoka Bondi 8 maintains its reputation with the release of its latest, very fun shoe. Even though the differences aren’t huge, the new midsole is lighter and bouncier compared to last year’s version, and the looks have also been given an upgrade, reminiscent of the Hoka Bondi X that came out last year.
All in all, you can’t go wrong with the Hoka Bondi 8, if you are looking for a comfortable everyday trainer with incredible comfort.
