Ego foam

The different types of EGO foam can offer you just what you need in your run. Standard EGO foam gives you a comfortable, responsive, and soft take-off.
EGO MAX gives a bit more "bounce." It's used in shoes with the most cushioning and provides the most comfortable running experience.
If you're into speed, a light feel, and lots of responsiveness, EGO PRO is the way to go.

Technologies

Balanced Cushioning

Balanced Cushioning is Altra's name for ZeroDrop. ZeroDrop means the foam under the forefoot and heel is the same height. Other shoe brands tend to have more foam under the heel, lifting it compared to the forefoot. When you wear Altra shoes, the amount of foam under your foot keeps your feet parallel to the ground, influencing your running style.

Footshape

All Altra shoes are designed to give your toes more space and stability through a wide base. If you've always felt other running shoes lacked enough room in the toe box, Altra is likely the right choice for you.

Altra Footshape

Altra offers three different fits in their shoe collection: Original Footshape, Standard Footshape, and Slim Footshape.

GuideRail

Altra's stability technology, GuideRail, provides the stability you need without locking you in. No extra hard foam underfoot, but heel reinforcements help if needed.

Altra Road

Road Shoes

With ZeroDrop and GuideRail technologies, the difference between neutral and stability shoes becomes less noticeable. Below you can read about Altra road shoes , both neutral and stability shoes.

Altra Vanish Carbon

Vanish Carbon

Vanish Carbon is Altra's fastest shoe. Perfect for races or when you're ready to push it on the roads. EGO PRO foam gives it lightness and responsiveness, yet with a lot of cushioning and a carbon plate for a comfy and bouncy run.

  • EGO Pro midsole
  • Slim footshape
  • Carbon shoe
  • 33mm
  • 176g/206g

Altra Torin 5

Torin 5

Torin 5 is the neutral trainer. If you're looking for a shoe for long Sunday runs, this is your ideal partner. It's soft and comfy throughout, Altra's undisputed mileage king.

  • EGO MAX midsole
  • Standard footshape
  • Trainer
  • 28mm
  • 234g/280g

Altra Provision 6

Provision 6

Provision 6 is the stability shoe most like Torin 5. Here, you have the same amount of foam and a bit more stability with a GuideRail around the heel. A perfect shoe for those wanting more support on long runs.

  • EGO MAX midsole
  • Standard footshape
  • GuideRail around the heel
  • Trainer
  • 28mm
  • 235g/287g

Altra Paradigm 6

Paradigm 6

If you want a shoe with maximum cushioning but also more support, then Paradigm 6 is a great choice. It has a higher midsole than Provision 6 and also has GuideRail around the heel. As GuideRail doesn't control your foot too much, this shoe can easily be worn by both neutral and support-seeking runners.

  • EGO MAX midsole
  • Standard footshape
  • GuideRail around the heel
  • Trainer
  • 30mm
  • 265g/307g

Trail Shoes

Originally, Altra was designed for trail running and has set the standard in trail since the start 10 years ago.

Here are the four Altra trail shoes we offer:

Altra Vanish Carbon

Altra Timp 4

Timp 4

Timp 4 is a big update from Timp 3. It's a soft trail shoe, with a new midsole, which I consider a hybrid between road and trail shoes. It works for a bit of everything, but best when taken into the woods.

  • EGO MAX midsole
  • Standard footshape
  • Maxtrac outsole
  • Comfortable trail shoe
