Connect IQ
Connect IQ app gives you full access to download apps, widgets, and watch faces for your Garmin Forerunner 55 GPS watch. You can customize and personalize your watch and its display more extensively than before. Best of all, you can do it for free!
Activity Profiles
Activity profiles cover all activities you can track with your Forerunner watch. Forerunner 45 includes the following activities:
- Run, running
- Treadmill, running on treadmill
- Bike, cycling
- Walk, walking
- Cardio
- Add, add more activities via the Garmin Connect app
With Garmin Forerunner 55, additional activities are added to the list, allowing you to challenge yourself with even more training forms or track an activity you've missed on your Forerunner 45. Among the new activity profiles, you find:
- Track Run, running on track
- Virtual Run, connect your watch with Zwift or another compatible app and run virtually on your phone or computer screen. It can be used for treadmill running. The watch sends pace, heart rate, and cadence to the connected app.

Garmin Forerunner 55 introduces more running-specific features to help elevate your running training and performance to new heights. Now, there's at least a chance to delve deeper into your training and planning of it. The new running features include:
- Daily Suggested Workouts Lite = With Daily Suggested Workouts (Lite), you can now get individual running training. Based on your current fitness level and training load, plus sleep, stress, and recovery status, Forerunner 55 offers specific session recommendations to follow daily. Lite version excludes Garmin’s Training Load and Training Status, which relate to how your body rebuilds and improves after training.

- Recovery Time = estimates how long before you’re fully recovered after your last training session.
- Race Predictor = Based on your VO2 Max and training history, Race Predictor estimates your expected finish time for distances: 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, and marathon.
- Finish time = choose a distance and see a screen with your estimated finish time.
- Cadence Alerts = set an interval for your desired running cadence (steps per minute). Receive alerts when your cadence goes above or below the set interval.
- Intervals Mode = create an interval session or choose a predefined interval session. Find the feature under Activity Profiles > Run > Settings > Training
- PacePro Lite = get a more strategic run with Garmin PacePro. Create a new or existing route in Garmin Connect and set the desired pace or finish time. PacePro will calculate a pace based on the route’s phases (ascents, descents, etc.). Download the plan to your watch and start your run. Lite version of PacePro works via GPS-based pace guidance. You won’t see a route map on the watch, unlike some advanced Garmin models.
INCREASED FOCUS ON YOUR HEALTH
But it’s not just about new activity profiles and running-specific updates. Garmin Forerunner 55 considers both your physical performance and health, now providing features previously reserved for more expensive models.
- Sleep Monitoring = wear Forerunner 55 when sleeping, and you’ll see your sleep stats in the Garmin Connect app. Garmin analyzes sleep using heart rate variations, categorizing it into stages: Light sleep, Deep sleep, and REM sleep. Read more about what happens in each stage here.
- Intensity Minutes = when your heart rate exceeds your average resting rate, Forerunner 55 assumes you’re active. It could be during a selected activity (running, cycling, pilates, etc.) or simply walking to the store. Forerunner 55 ensures all activity counts!
- Fitness Age = this feature makes your activity and training results more relatable. Typically, your fitness level is indicated as your VO2 Max. To make this understandable, Fitness Age converts your VO2 Max to an estimated age. Training and movement help keep us young. So what are you waiting for?
- Pregnancy Tracking = just like Garmin Connect helps women track their menstrual cycle and symptoms, pregnancy tracking is now introduced to Garmin Forerunner 55. This feature lets you track specific pregnancy symptoms week by week, get water reminders, track baby movements, etc.
- All-day respiration, shows breaths per minute.

ENHANCED BATTERY LIFE
