The new has finally awakened after years of dormancy, bringing something fresh to adidas's lineup. But what is this new exciting feature? For us running enthusiasts, it's often about the midsole! Introducing a Peba-based foam called Dreamstrike+ (made from the same components as their fast Lightstrike Pro foam), adidas has incorporated a more modern foam into their daily trainers. We look forward to diving into the details.

In this article, Lars and Jakob will share and compare their insights, giving you multiple perspectives to help determine if this shoe suits your running needs.
adidas Supernova Rise - Upper
Jakob: First and foremost, the fit. My experience was that these shoes are “true to size,” although they might be slightly on the narrow side, but overall they fit me well. The upper feels soft and breathable, which I like. What really stood out for me was the soft and protective heel cap. When I'm looking for a daily training shoe, I don't want it too minimalist.
Overall, it's a comfortable upper that has the qualities I look for when searching for a .
Lars: I agree with Jakob to some extent. The upper on is very comfortable and soft! I appreciate the extra padding around the heel cap for comfort, but if it were up to me, I might tone that part down a bit, which I know is a personal preference. I also feel the shoe is a bit snug, but after a long run in the shoe, I had no issues, so I'll just categorize it as a good, close fit and great lock-down. Overall, this is a very comfortable upper.
adidas Supernova Rise - Running Feel
Lars: Now that we've come to how these shoes feel while running, the midsole offers a very balanced experience; it is neither overly soft nor firm. I think that's why I find it to be such a “runnable” shoe. The heel-to-toe transition is smooth, and it just feels natural to me. I'm a heel striker, and the 10 mm heel drop might make the shoe feel slightly firmer in the forefoot for those landing further forward on their toes. I know Jakob prefers a softer forefoot, but honestly, I didn't think much of it, and I really like how this midsole is constructed.
Jakob: I completely understand what Lars is talking about. adidas has intended to show how a premium midsole can be made in a more understated, daily training expression. The new Dreamstrike+ foam is a winner and, in my book, a better and more modern cushion than we are used to with Boost. The feel of the midsole makes sense when you look at how adidas has operated in the past. Even with crazy opportunities for innovation, adidas still keeps their new technologies grounded, ensuring their products are reliable and durable.
My only wish is a bit more foam in the forefoot. A more premium forefoot experience would suit my running style better. But as I said earlier,
has truly made a fantastic midsole foam that really works!
adidas Supernova Rise - Grip
Jakob: Grip is certainly not trivial, especially not on rainy or icy days. We have a different rubber here, not the Continental outsole we've seen on other . It might not be quite as grippy, but it is still more than good enough for daily training, even in challenging weather. And the outsole appears to be durable enough to last a long time.
Lars: As Jakob says, the grip is just as it should be. I had a run in a downpour on asphalt and gravel, and the grip was fantastic! Switching to the Adiwear outsole did not compromise the grip in my opinion, and it also made the shoe lighter. So it's a thumbs up from me. And with the amount of Adiwear, I definitely think we can count on these shoes for many, many miles.
adidas Supernova Rise - Stability
Lars: Let's talk a bit about stability. These shoes are neutral running shoes with a stable feel, even with the higher “stack height.” There is good support around the heel, and the new Support Rod System introduced for stability is a great modern addition that provides some stability without making them feel stiff or clunky.
Jakob: I think these shoes offer stability without feeling clunky or too stiff. The EVA foam rods in the midsole contribute to what I would call “dynamic stability.” It's nice to see this blend of modern features. With a 10 mm heel drop, it's a win for me, especially with my history of Achilles problems.
Just to be clear, this is not a stability shoe, but it is definitely a stable neutral shoe that will help runners who want a reliable shoe that supports without being too much.
adidas Supernova Rise - Recommendations
Jakob: So who should consider buying these ? I see them as an excellent choice for those who just want to enjoy their daily runs. They are not too specialized for recovery runs or tempo runs. I think they fit on the shoe shelf for those missing a shoe for when they just need to go for a run, without overthinking what and why.
Lars: are versatile , capable of handling a bit of everything, but they shine most during daily runs. They are not overly complicated; the midsole has a more modern spring, and they are just here to make all your runs comfortable.
