ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 – First Impressions

At first glance, you can see significant changes from the previous model. The shoe has a stack height of a full 41.5 mm under the heel. This large stack height offers ample amounts of FF Blast+ in the midsole, providing plenty of comfort, yet a more springy feel than ASICS Gel-Nimbus 24, which is more just soft.

The landing is stable, which is also reinforced by the broad design of the outsole, which has performed excellently in terms of grip.

Size-wise, I use the same size in ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 as I usually do in most running shoes. There's good toe room, with a fine grip on the foot, and the shoe fits very well overall. Around the ankle, thick pads provide a feeling of comfort and softness all around – it's generally a great experience putting your foot in the shoe!

The Running Experience in ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25

ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 is undoubtedly a " everyday trainer "; a shoe that performs well for all your easy runs, whether short or long.

I've also tested the shoe on 1km intervals, and while it's not immediately the model's strong suit, it still provided a good running experience. Especially downhill, the shoe's design offers a great roll – this applies to both the heel design and the forefoot "rocker". In my opinion, versatility is significantly greater in this new edition compared to ASICS Gel-Nimbus 24.

For good measure, I can tell you that as of writing, I've run close to 100 km in the model, spread over several short runs, an interval session (8 x 1 km intervals), and 2 longer runs – the longest about 20 km.

Conclusion

ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 is not just the newest entry in ASICS’ Gel-Nimbus series. It's a significant upgrade from the previous model, offering a more versatile shoe. The shoe feels faster, with both design and midsole positively supporting the running experience. I've thoroughly enjoyed testing this model and look forward to many more kilometers in it.
