A versatile running shoe has to earn its name. It must live up to different criteria to prove that it works well both as a fast shoe for good days and a comfortable shoe for easy-going days.

I want to introduce you to a shoe which lives up to those exact criteria - a shoe for the neutral runner and for the one who needs stability. Its a running shoe that compromises very well and a shoe that I have been crazy about for many years. Say hello to Brooks Launch 8!

Brooks Launch 8/Launch 8 GTS for you who just wants to own one pair of running shoes

The Brooks Launch 8 is the sort of running shoe you need to have if you are only going to buy one pair of running shoes – regardless of whether you are a neutral or pronating runner. It is a lightweight everyday running shoe, where weight, comfort, responsiveness, and durability come together beautifully.

It is a lighter alternative to the traditional everyday trainer without compromising with the shock-absorption.

It is a running shoe that does the job brilliantly if you ask me. It will propel you forward in every run of the week, as it always delivers at a high standard on all the aforementioned fronts.

Launch 8 and Launch 8 GTS - solid lightweight running shoes

The Brooks Launch 8 and the Launch 8 GTS, which is an abbreviation for Go-To-Support, are two pairs of shoes that will do well on the same types of runs. The only difference between the two models is the extra stability and support of the Launch 8 GTS.

Launch 8 GTS provides more support and stability

Both shoes have a durable outsole that is built to last many kilometres. However, as you can see on the outsole, the GTS edition has a bit more rubber in the outsole under the midfoot in order to stabilise the foot a bit more and provide more flexibility, compared to the neutral edition.

At the same time, both shoes have an Air mesh upper (like we know it from many other Brooks shoes). A really comfortably padded upper, which allows enough room for your toes, provides a great fit, and overall feels light on your feet.

There is a bit more focus on the support of your foot in the upper of the GTS, as there is an added support band around the midfoot to give an even tighter and more stable fit.

In my opinion, I actually think the GTS delivers a better locked-in feeling, compared to the neutral edition.

Responsive but also comfortable midsole

The area where the Launch 8 and the Launch 8 GTS distinguishes themselves from each other is the midsole. I have experienced an incredibly responsive midsole, which really helps me to pick up the pace whenever I want, but at the same time feels comfortable for the calm runs.

You should not expect the softest midsole on the market, simply because it is so versatile and built for different kinds of runs. So, if this is what you are looking for, there are other alternatives available.

But, if you like me, want a versatile running shoe where you can safely and effortlessly play with the tempo, the Brooks’ shock-absorbing and firmer material of the BioMoGo DNA foam in the midsole is a great match.

The Launch 8 and the Launch 8 GTS have the exact same midsole, but the GTS, of course, has some extra support in the midsole, thanks to Brooks’ unique GuideRails technology.

GuideRails works like built-in protrusions around the inside and outside, which will help to stabilise the knees and help guide the foot towards the middle if you tend to land on the side of your foot. In my opinion, it works really well.

Launch 8/Launch 8 GTS covers a lot of needs

I am, personally, a big fan of this running shoe, both the neutral and the stable edition. It is justified to say that both shoes deserve a place in any runner’s rotation of running shoes, or if you only want to own one pair of running shoes.

It does not have one speciality, instead, it outstandingly meets different needs. A great and lightweight running shoe, which delivers high quality at a really good price!
