The normal Hoka One One Bondi is the comfort cruiser for max stack runners. It’s big, it’s chunky, and it’s comfortable. But Hoka won’t stop there and has now made their max mileage shoe with a carbon plate.
Here are five reasons why you should try something as crazy as a max cushion carbon shoe!

Reason #1
Everyone can level up! X stands for carbon, and carbon works. The Bondi X isn’t built to be fast for races but is made for those runners who wants a carbon plate in their everyday life. It’s more accessible for the normal man, a lot less noticeable, and just accommodates and enhances the shoe in the right way.
The Bondi X is still an easy day, long run shoe, but with a tiny bit softer foam and more responsiveness because of the carbon plate. Some people might think a carbon plate in a shoe this heavy and big isn’t logical, but after trying it, there is absolutely a place for it in the market. Especially because of that soft foam which could become mushy and hard to run in without a plate to balance it out.

Reason #2
That SwallowTail! What is a SwallowTail? Well, it’s this weird thing on the back of the heel! It is weird looking, I don’t know if I can call it sexy, it certainly doesn’t sound sexy, but it feels sexy if you know what I mean (plays sensual music and shows slow motions of a soft landing).
The foam used in the Hoka One One Bondi X is a bit softer than the Bondi 7, but the carbon plate takes that softness and turns it into such a nice roll forward that you just feel compelled to keep running. It’s just so smooth and nice feeling, especially if you are a heel lander like me.
Reason #3
A fit to buy for! Do you see what I did there? (winks at the camera) The Hoka fit has grown with the brand and it has in my eyes become spectacular. The Mach 4, Torrent 2, Speedgoat 4, and now the Bondi X fit me like a glove. It’s just deliciously following my feet while still giving my toes the wiggle room they need to stay blister-free on the long runs.

Reason #4
A stable platform! With a wider platform and a carbon plate, it matters less what type of runner you are. Most people will have more than enough stability without it being an annoyance. Just don’t buy it if you are a minimalist runner, it might not be what you are looking for.

Reason #5
It is crazy, and crazy is the new cool! There are so many insane shoes coming nowadays, but this is weirdly one of those shoes that makes sense at the same time… At least once you put it on!
The X makes the Bondi a more versatile shoe that can fulfill more of your needs, and it gives everybody the chance to go carbon. And what is that saying again?. Once you go carbon plate, you never come late?
