Test: Ledlenser H7R Signature - How waterproof is it?

So, it’s waterproof, but I want to know, how much can we push this?!

The Ledlenser H7R Signature is the strongest headlamp we have from Ledlenser. It has a 1200 lumens boost mode and a 700 lumens normal power mode that lasts for 3.5 hours. The beam is adjustable and can be at a spot or a wide setting, the wire for the battery can be extended so you can move the battery around, and it can even be paired with a phone for further remote-controlled abilities.

It’s perfect for hiking, camping, orienteering, and trail running, mountain biking, you name it. It is a very versatile lamp with many uses and accessories.

But the major update from the earlier versions has been the water-resistant rating. This time the H7R has a waterproof rating of IP67, which means that the lamp is protected from immersion up to 1 meter in depth.

So, it’s waterproof, but I want to know, how much can we push this?!

VIDEO REVIEW

In the video above we have tested the three different scenarios, each more extreme than the other, to determine if you should be afraid to use the H7R Signature outside if it rains, pours, or something worse!

Light rain

First, we decided to test the H7R Signature in a light drizzle, but since it never rains in Denmark, we decided to spray it with a garden hose. It was very uncomfortable, but it was a good simulation to see if a light drizzle outside can affect the headlamp in any way. No surprises there, it didn’t. The headlamp survived being sprayed and worked without any issues afterward.

Pouring rain

Second, we needed to up the ante. We need to submerge the headlamp, to see if it could handle a huge downpour of water that would make everything on you completely soaked.
We all know Denmark is the land of the eternal sun, so we decided to fill up a tank and stick my face in it, of course wearing the headlamp.

Now, my face couldn’t handle all that moisture, but the H7R Signature had no issues whatsoever and was completely functional after being submerged many times.

Storms along the coast

The third test is the most extreme challenge we put the headlamp through, we needed to see how the H7R Signature would react to salty, windy, and stormy conditions along the coast. Of course, Denmark never has wind or rain at the coast, so we needed to simulate this by going for a swim in the ocean.

After swimming, and submerging the entire headlamp several times, battery included, we can conclude that this headlamp seems like it can handle some salty water on the coast.

So in conclusion, the Ledlenser H7R Signature will handle some wet, windy, and salty weather.
