Mizuno Neo Zen and Neo Vista - All I've Ever Dreamed Of!

Mizuno is both firm and soft. Mizuno is both structured and free. Mizuno is for everyone now!

Mizuno has always been known as a very traditional brand when it comes to running shoes. A structured heel, a stiff plate, and a higher drop were almost standard. But that was then.

Now, Mizuno seems to be the most progressive brand on the market, and nothing illustrates this better than the new Mizuno Neo Zen and Neo Vista. Watch this video to see Emil and Lars compare both shoes.

With these two models, Mizuno has created everything I've dreamed of for daily training. I wouldn't recommend them to runners who prefer a firmer underfoot feel, but for those who love soft shoes, these two are just perfect.

Look Alike, but Different.

Mizuno Neo Vista and Mizuno Neo Zen are both very soft shoes. They have the same knit upper and nearly identical midsole geometry, but different foam. Some may think they are too similar, but the slight differences in the midsole make a bigger difference than you'd think.

Mizuno Neo Vista, which hit the market last summer, has a full-length plastic plate in the midsole and a higher foam height. The plastic plate especially helps distribute weight on landing and gives an extra push forward, making transitions from heel to toe faster and more responsive. In short, Mizuno Neo Vista helps you "bounce" toward your next step, while Mizuno Neo Zen provides a softer landing and a less energetic ride.

This means that Mizuno Neo Zen is a bit more stable but still offers a soft landing for heel strikers. You sink deeper into the foam with Neo Zen, making it one of the most comfortable shoes for daily training and recovery runs. It's incredible that Mizuno has managed to create such a comfortable and soft shoe that's so light! Mizuno Neo Vista remains soft, but the extra height and bounce feel better for runners who want more cushioning under the toes and wish to run faster and longer.

All I've Dreamed Of

So why are these shoes all I've ever dreamed of for daily training? Because if you have these two shoes, you actually don't need others for daily use. Mizuno Neo Zen is perfect for daily runs where pace isn't crucial – you just want to enjoy a nice "Zen" feeling during the run.

Mizuno Neo Vista on the other hand, is the super trainer that takes you out and about. It's more lively and bouncy, can handle the longer and faster runs, and is the shoe you'll wear when you want to explore the "Vistas" in your area.

Both shoes are excellent, and if you're looking for soft shoes, these two are definitely worth considering.
