Test: On Cloudmonster - There is no need to be afraid of monsters

It really doesn't make much sense at all. It's completely and utterly different than before, even though really it ought to be the same?

Despite the fact that both Tine and I have run quite a few kilometers in the ON Running Cloudmonster - the latest addition to the family from the Swiss run-on-clouds brand, we still haven't quite managed to understand how they have been able to design a running shoe that is so markedly different from eveything they have produced before. Since it's pretty much all the same technology that is used in all of ON's other running shoes.

Cloudmonster – The technology

Cloudmonster is built with Cloudtec, Helion and Ons Speedboard, just like almost all shoes from ON. Still, Cloudmonster feels softer than any other ON shoe we've tried wearing here at the office. And the awesome thing is that the shoes haven't undergone any compromises in terms of feeling responsive. When wearing the shoes, you really notice two things: that the monster is giving you extra forward momentum, and that it feels as though you are running on clouds - ultra soft clouds!

Cloudmonster - Wickedly good

In our opinion, ON Cloudmonster is a wickedly good high mileage running shoe. And we will no doubt run a whole lot of kilometers wearing them. The Cloudmonster is a running shoe that everyone will think is great to run in, so the monster really isn't harming anyone. The only ones who should be afraid of the Cloudmonster are the other running shoe manufacturers, because with this shoe, ON has really stepped its game up. And if this is a sign of how ON plans on designing shoes in the future, then it certainly bodes very well for the Swiss brand.
