Which type of running shoe is Saucony Triumph 19?
Triumph is the most cushioning and comfortable long-distance Saucony running shoe which still manages to feel resilient and lively. Its primarily intended as a volume shoe, but I also think that it works well for pacy runs.
Personally I think that Triumph 19 is a really good running shoe, especially now when my body and legs starts to feel quite heavy, and the runs are quite hard. Triumph 19 makes all my runs more comfortable. Currently its among my favorites because it provides exactly what I need at the moment in terms of comfort and cushioning. But during "normal" circumstances for running, I would probably primarily choose the shoe for my long runs whether I would be cruising or doing runs with pacy stretches integrated.
Which updates have been made from Triumph 18 to Triumph 19?
You won´t really find a lot of updates. The outsole and the PWRRUN+ foam midsole is similar to the predecessor. Its only the weight and the upper which have been updated. And the weight is probably the most important as it has been reduced. Triumph 19 now weighs around 30g. less than the 18’. Even though its still one of the heavier running shoes, it becomes more versatile in terms of upping the pace.
The upper has become more minimalistic than the 18´. It doesn´t have as much padding but instead it has become more breathable. Just in a lighter way. Certainly the upper makes it feel lighter.
How is Saucony Triumph 19 compared to other running shoes?
If we start off with Sauconys own range, I would say that Triumph 19 and Ride 14 complement each other really well. Where Triumph 19 is the ultimate volume shoe in terms of high comfort, cushioning and softness, Ride 14 is a more versatile - neutral – running shoe as it is lighter and faster. This makes it work well for pacy runs and even also for intervals.
Personally I would say that the running experience in Triumph 19 is very similar to Brooks Glycerin 19. Two shoes which get the job done very well, however, the Glycerin 19 upper has a bit more padding than Triumph 19.
Why should you choose Triumph 19?
You should choose Saucony Triumph 19 as it provides optimal comfort, mile after mile. It does, however, also provide a bit of responsiveness which makes it fun for pacy experiments.
You can also do lots of easy-going, comfortable runs in it, regardless of the distance, or you can challenge yourself and mix the pace along the way. You should choose Triumph 19 as it is an amazing, neutral volume shoe.
