It's no secret that I've loved 20. I think it's outstanding.
It hits a perfect combo of being cushioned, very comfortable, while still being the , I feel, that offers the best "pop". The PWRRUN+ foam in the midsole is, in my opinion, perfectly tuned, and the outsole design gives a great grip on both asphalt and trails.
Saucony Triumph 21 - What's new?
So, how do you make it better for a new shoe edition?
chose not to make huge changes. But the changes they did make are really good.
The biggest change is the upper’s design. It’s made of a new woven mesh material that feels very durable and sturdy when you hold 21 in your hands. But when you put the shoe on, it feels different. If I have a small complaint about the previous version, Triumph 20, it's that I think the upper fits too snugly on the foot.
Saucony Triumph 21 - More airy - Still excellent
In the Triumph 21, the feel of the upper is different. It doesn’t fit as tightly on the foot, but in a comfortable way. The material is more airy and breathable, which I find really nice. I don't think any cushioning is sacrificed, but I only gain extra comfort by it being more airy and breathable.
The midsole hasn’t changed from before. It’s still remarkably good. It hits the perfect mix of comfort, cushioning, "pop," and roll through the stride.
PWRRUN+ foam is ideal for a high-mileage shoe, as it offers a lot of cushioning with low weight, and it also lasts for many miles (I've run over 1000km in Triumph 20 and there is hardly any noticeable difference between that pair and a new pair).
When all is said and done, I think is still an exceptionally good running shoe. It gives me everything I want in a high-mileage shoe. And more. If you want a high-mileage shoe with lots of cushioning and "pop" underfoot, take a look at Saucony Triumph 21.
