Badwater
Badwater is a 217 km long race. The route runs from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, California. It is the most demanding and extreme race in the world.
The starting line is at Badwater Basin, Death Valley, which marks the lowest elevation in North America at 85 meters below sea level. The race ends at Whitney Portal at 2530 meters elevation. The Badwater route covers three mountain ranges with a total height of 4450 meters.
Run on the white lines otherwise the shoes will melt
Besides being an extremely long run, Badwater is also a run in varying, extreme temperatures. At the starting line in Death Valley, the temperature can reach a staggering 50 degrees. And at the finish line on Mount Whitney, it can easily be minus degrees. In other words, it is extreme weather conditions that Stine Rex has to prepare herself for.
When Stine Rex qualified for the race, she received some good advice from the race organizers. One of the pieces of advice was that it would be beneficial if she ran on the white stripes on the road, as otherwise she may risk her shoes melting. Badwater also offered to send her a pair of shoes from the Badwater organization that would be able to cope with the high temperatures. An offer, which Stine Rex otherwise declined.
I'm hoping my shoes from Craft can handle the heat

Another piece of advice from the race organizers was to bring plenty of water with you. Since you probably have to reckon with the fact that if you pour water over your body, it will have likely evaporated before it's reached your knees.
To prepare for the extreme temperatures, Stine has started doing cardio training in the sauna. That way, her body can get ued to performing in the high temperatures.
Collaboration with Craft
Stine is sponsored by Craft and will be running wearing Craft shoes for the actual race. However, she does not know which clothes from Craft she will be running in. Craft and Stine Rex are in the process of looking at possible solutions regarding the possibility of specially designing clothes for the race.

When asked what Stine's goal is, she answers:
It's of course to complete the race - but I can't help also believing that I may be able to win the race
Stine plans to run Badwater on the 11th July in California, USA.
