Review of the Boom Miini By Miiego - Award-winning sound and comfort in a lighweight version

I have tested Boom Miini By Miiego. Award-winning sound, exceptional comfort, and long-lasting battery life.

Boom Miini By Miiego is a pair of simple and classic on-ear headphones for everyday use, the commute, the gym, or for running. Also, it is a pair of headsets for the one who expects a lot from the sound quality, comfort, and ease of use

MIIEGO HAS DONE IT AGAIN

You may already know Miiego and what you can expect. Or maybe you don’t know Miiego? In any case, let me quickly introduce you to the brand – and why Miiego is your guarantee for high quality.

For a decade, Miiego has made its mark on the market with stylish headsets and earphones that deliver extraordinary sound. They are actually so reputable that they have won numerous awards for their product, like the Boom By Miiego and the AL3+ Freedom, which are also some of their most popular products.

And now Miiego has done it again!

The Boom series has a new companion – a particularly good companion – that is the IPX5 certification of being sweat and water repellent.

CLEAN AND SIMPLE DESIGN

Boom Miini By Miiego is, as the name suggests, a younger sibling to the Boom series. With a weight of only 155 grams, the Boom Miini is one of the lightest headsets. For comparison, the Boom ANC By Miiego weighs 300 grams while the B&O Bose H9i, another popular headset, weighs 285 grams.

With its incredibly light weight, I can already reveal that the Boom Miini are incredibly comfortable to wear on-the-go. Your head does not feel ‘heavy’ when wearing them, which I sometimes experience with other heavy headsets. I have been wearing them on runs that last +60 min, and they did not cause any annoyance throughout the run – at all

There is a reason behind this light weight. The design of the Boom Miini is much more simple, clean, and light. The fit is narrower, compared to the Boom ANC by Miiego and the Boom By Miiego, which means there will not be a lot of room between the face and the headset. I, personally, like this as the alternative can look a bit extreme on small and narrow faces. The Boom Miini by Miiego has really hit the sweet spot in regard to the sizing, in my opinion.

Naturally, you can adjust the size of the Boom Miini by pulling or pushing in the ear cups.

BOOM MIINI – FOR EVERYDAY USE AND SPORTS

When you buy the Boom Miini two different kinds of ear cushions are included. One is for everyday use while the other is for sports.

The ear cushions already on the Boom Miini when you receive it are for everyday use. These ear cushions are made from a soft and comfortable PU leather.

The other (and extra) pair of ear cushions, which are included, are perfect for training. The ear cushions are made from a breathable and sweat-wicking mesh material that can be washed at 30 degrees. This is advantageous because they can easily get smelly and greasy, to put it mildly.

It is very easy to change the ear cushions as it simply requires a simple twist-and-turn (watch my video below).

FLAWLESS IN ACTION

I have tested the Boom Miini on my runs in different kinds of tempo. Personally, I would never run with a headset or other headphones for my interval runs, as I want to be 100% in the zone and focused on the intervals – and not be disturbed by the music.

However, on my calm and more moderate runs, I love to listen to music. And for this, the Boom Miini is genius!

They do not bounce around, weight almost nothing, and have great comfort. You will not start feeling pain in or around your ears when wearing them. Even after +1 hours on the roads they still fit exactly as intended.

I have also been testing them in the sunshine, where I was sweating quite a lot, and in the rain where they got wet. This was purely to test whether they actually are sweat and water repellent, as the IPX5 certificate on the Boom Miini suggests. And they are! There is really nothing more to say to this; they can withstand anything

AWARD-WINNING SOUND

The Boom series has won awards for its sound quality multiple times. And if you have tried the Boom ANC by Miiego or the Boom By Miiego, you should know why. The sound is incredibly clean and crisp.

It is the exact same award-winning and fantastic sound in the Boom Miini.

When you turn on the headphones you are not welcomed by an annoying, high-volumed connected-sound, but instead a rather subdued and calm tone. The same goes for the beep-sounds to indicate a low battery.

The volume of the Boom Miini can be rather loud for your runs, walks, or workouts in the gym. If you are using them for running, you cannot even hear your own breathing, which is the reason some people are running with a headset. It is just easier to follow the rhythm of a beat than your own breathing. It can also make the running harder when you can hear how exhausted you actually are.

Even though the Boom Miini is not categorised as a noise-cancelling product, I do think they manage to shut out most of the surrounding noises. However, not to the extent that I cannot hear the traffic around me when I keep the volume to a moderate level.

EASY TO CONTROL MUSIC AND CALLS

Using the Boom Miini is incredibly easy, intuitive, and user-friendly. The headset connects quickly to your device via Bluetooth.

There are two buttons on the headset. One power button and one multifunctional button at the right earcup.

- With the power button you can turn on/off, start/stop the music, and answer/reject calls.

- With the multifunctional button you can adjust the volume and skip forward/backwards.

I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the buttons reacted. On other headsets, it can be rather difficult to skip backwards to the song you were listening to (or a couple of songs before that), but the buttons of the Boom Miini were quick and responsive.

Thanks to the built-in microphone of the Boom Miini, you can, of course, take calls without picking up the phone. I have tested this feature and the sound was nice and crisp – both for the person I was speaking to and to me.

TRAIN RELENTLESSLY

As the heading suggests, you can train, walk, or run relentlessly with the Boom Miini.

Despite its lightweight design and extraordinary sound, this pair of headset has an outstanding battery life of up to 21 hours! That is rather impressive. And if you should run out of battery, but you still want to listen to music, you can simply connect your device and headset to the AUX cable that is also included.

If you would rather be free from using the AUX cable, the charging luckily only takes 2-3 hours before the battery is fully charged. This way, you can be back on the training in no time.

When the battery is running low the LED indicator will start to flash red every 60 seconds. The headphones will also indicate it with a “beep beep” tone. Fortunately, when you hear the beeping you will still have a couple of minutes of running before they turn off.

It is also worth highlighting that the Boom Miini has a Bluetooth range of up to 10-15 metres. This makes them great for the gym

CONCLUSION

I have been using the Boom Miini By Miiego quite a lot not. For running, for everyday use, for walks, and relaxation – and I truly love them. From day 1 I loved the design, but now I love both the design, the fit, the comfort, and in particular the sound quality. And, of course, the fact that they are water and sweat repellent.

You can wear them everywhere. The Boom Miini can be folded together and stored in the storage bag included, so they take up less space when you are not using them

You get all the familiar quality from Mieego with these headphones – and more.
