Running should be fun and feel like a game. This line of thinking, however, seems like nonsense when you are exhausted and out of breath following an intense interval training or a long-distance run. But what if you could make even these kinds of runs more engaging?
They can be – even the calmer and more moderate runs – you just need to run with the ASICS EvoRide 2.
I have been running with this shoe for a couple of weeks now and I love it. Learn why in my video review below.

ASICS EvoRide 2 delivers a cool "rolling" experience
The ASICS EvoRide 2 is a neutral lightweight running shoe, which type-wise feels like a mix of the Nike Pegasus and the Saucony Kinvara – but with a significantly more noticeable “rolling” experience under the feet when you are running. It is the lightest model in ASICS’ innovative RIDE series, which also comprises the GlideRide. A series characterised by a stiff and incredibly curved forefoot to give the shoes this rolling experience.
The idea behind this shape is to make the run more efficient.
And I must concur. It is absolutely amazing. I have also tested the ASICS GlideRide 2 and I am very excited about both models. They each have their own strengths, but their curved midsoles are so spot-on. At least according to my style of running!

ASICS' unique Guidesole technology provides greater momentum
ASICS has named the curved shape the Guidesole technology, which means that the ankle of the ankle joint is kept constant during the standing phase and this way forces you to do a faster toe-off – and as a result, a better momentum.
It feels super strange once you step into the shoe, and I, admittedly, did fear it would feel strange on my run. But believe me, it will feel amazing. It does require some adaptation, but I think this was quite easy to do.

ASICS EvoRide vs. ASICS GlideRide
EvoRide 2’s Guidesole is not as extreme as the GlideRide. The forefoot of the GlideRide arches even more upwards and therefore gives a feeling of extra, extra momentum. It makes it an ideal shoe for the long, calm runs and long race-days since it comes with more comfort in the midsole, compared to the EvoRide.

But the area where the EvoRide 2 truly has its strength is its versatility. It is great for many different types of runs. I still get this insane roll around the forefoot – and if you have never tried the GlideRide then you will feel how extreme the roll of the Evoride is.
At the same time, the EvoRide 2 is also lighter than the GlideRide, so it is much easier to pick up the pace and use the shoe for the fast tempo runs, interval trainings, and race-days on any sort of distance.

ASICS EvoRide is great for moderate to fast tempo runs
Even though it on paper is a versatile training shoe, I have primarily been using the shoe for the moderate to fast tempo runs at a pace around 4.30 and faster. For runs at a calmer tempo, I actually miss a bit of comfort, like the one you find in the GlideRide or the Nimbus. For that reason, I would probably say the EvoRide belongs to the category of a tempo shoe or a lightweight everyday trainer.
Even though the midsole gets all the attention because it is SO different, I still want to highlight the upper. The padding is somewhere between a race shoe and an everyday trainer. It feels comfortable and there is nothing I particularly miss or feel annoyed about.

EvoRide 2 is a light, efficient, and more exciting alternative to your everyday trainer
It has truly been a pleasure and really engaging to test the ASICS Evoride 2. It has given my runs a new sense of life, as the roll is so impressive. It makes the runs fun and different but at the same time, the shoe gives me something extra when it comes to performance.
Whether you are looking for a lighter, more efficient, and really exciting running shoe as an alternative to your everyday trainer, or you are looking for a running shoe that can do a bit of everything and get you through your run with a smile, then the EvoRide 2 is a really good choice.
