Anniversary, yay!
has clearly created a popular running shoe series with their . We have reached the tenth edition. And even though the shoe is wildly popular, ASICS hasn't rested on their laurels and just changed a few small things. They've actually done a makeover of the shoe but still managed to keep all the characteristics that define a GT-2000.
has always been a mild stability shoe with lower weight, less soft midsole, and lower price than its bigger sibling, . It still is, but the shoe has received a completely new build with new materials.

Different but same
The biggest change from 9 to 10 is the midsole. Almost everything has changed. There's new foam, new stability technology, and new 3D Space Construction. All noticeable changes, but I still feel the traits that typically define a .
In my opinion, the best upgrade is that GT-2000 10 now features FlyteFoam Propel foam in the midsole. The foam is softer and lighter than the previous version's FlyteFoam. This also made it possible for ASICS to add a bit more foam in the midsole. Therefore, you get a softer, lighter, and more responsive GT-2000 than before.
Another significant update is the change in how the stability support functions. Previously, there was a plastic insert under the foot to guide your foot during stride, providing more support on the inside. Now, has removed the plastic and instead placed harder foam – through their 3D Space Construction technology and Lite Truss foam – on the inside of the shoe. The 3D technology is gender-specific, so women receive different support than men. This results in more natural and less controlling support, likely suitable for more runners.

Padded and snug
If you've run in an you might have noticed they make some lovely uppers. No exception with GT-2000 10. The upper is made from knit material but is padded in the right places, so it's soft yet breathable.
The fit is on the snug side, but the knit material expands around your foot, so you don't feel squeezed. Although the upper is quite simple and lacks straps or overlays for structure, I've only experienced it lying comfortably and securely in the shoe.
A well-known classic
The outsole is classic . There's plenty of rubber to provide grip and ensure the shoe lasts for many miles. The rubber material is AHAR+, which is ASICS' most durable rubber. Even though it's a heavy material, I haven't felt the shoes to be “bottom-heavy.” There's not much to say about the outsole. It just works. Both to provide grip and to last many miles.
