REVIEW: Brooks Ghost 13 - Brooks' most popular neutral high-mileage training shoe

About Camilla By Camilla Christensen

Would you like to try out Brooks’ most popular neutral high-mileage training shoe? Then, you are certainly in for a treat.

I just tested Brooks Ghost 13 – and even if I have already tested a lot of running shoes for high-mileage training, Ghost 13 certainly sets itself apart.

Check out why in my video-review below.

Video-review of Brooks Ghost 13

Brooks Ghost 13 - an incredibly simple but luxurious high-mileage training shoe

In terms of type, Ghost 13 is very similar to Nike Pegasus, ASICS Gel-Cumulus, New Balance 1080 and Saucony Ride. Everyone certainly has a favourite but I would still say that Brooks Ghost 13 has gone straight into my list of favourites for high-mileage training.

How come? Because its an incredibly simple running shoe. It does what it needs to do without overdoing it. It feels far more luxurious than many other high-mileage training shoes.

Ghost 13 fels invisble on your foot - a fully optimal super padded upper

Ghost 13 is a really, really comfortable neutral high-milage training shoe. You get a stable and very comfortable gait combined with a super soft and breathable upper.

When you put it on, you instantly sense the soft upper which is padded in exactly the right places for this type of running shoe. The heel cap, the tongue and this piece has great padding.

I have done runs between 5-16km in Ghost 13 and running just feels so balanced. There is a really good combination of softness – without being incredibly soft - and stability. As the name ”Ghost” suggest, the shoe turns invisble. You simpley forget you´re wearing it.

Most stable, neutral high-mileage training shoe

In fact I would claim that this is one of the most stable, neutral high-mileage training shoes thanks to Brooks´ choice of midsole-material.

The midsole consists of Brooks’ soft DNA Loft-foam on the outside of the midsole and the more solid BioMogo-foam on the inside which I think provides a soft and comfortable running experience without being too lively and unstable.

This also means that I actually have the option of upping the pace on my runs even though Ghost 13 is not a classic racing shoe because it is heavier than those type of shoes. There is no doubt that this shoe is built for easy-going runs and recovery-runs, short runs as well as long.

Brooks Ghost 13 makes a great contribution to your training, regardless of level and target

If you are looking for a super fun, exciting and different run, Ghost 13 is not the right choice. But if you want a safe, trustworthy and stable running shoe, you should definitely consider Brooks Ghost 13.

Regardless if you are heading out for your first run or your 10th marathon, Ghost 13 can make a great contribution to your training. Enjoy yourself - and look forward to it!
