Quick guide
Get Started
It is very simple to get started with your
. You unpack the scale and insert the batteries. The batteries are included. Now there is power, and then it's just a matter of turning on your Garmin Connect application on the phone.
- Here you click on “More” in the bottom right corner.
- From here you go into “Garmin devices”.
- Here you click on “Add device”
- Your Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale will appear, and then you click on it.
- You then receive a code to enter, and then you start up.
Your scale automatically takes all your pre-entered data from
. Connect into the scale, so make sure to enter the correct information, and you are ready to use your Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale.
The next thing you need to do is give your profile a name so there can be a difference if there are multiple users on the scale. This can always be changed, so don't think too long about it. Once everything is set up, you can decide what you want to have displayed. This is also done in Garmin Connect. I have chosen to have all data displayed.
At the first weigh-in, you step on the scale, and you get everything measured. First, it shows the weight, and then the various data scroll across the screen, plus you can see how the weather is outside. It all ends with you seeing your weight again.
After this, you push it into place. The scale turns off by itself and gets ready to be used again the next day. Now all your data can be read in Garmin Connect, and it's up to you what you want to use it for.
Appearance
It's nice when you buy a scale that it's easy to hide or at least looks reasonably nice; this is not always the case. But with this scale, it's actually quite nice. It doesn't take up much space, and in the white color that I have, the Garmin Index S2 Smart Scale blends well into the room where it stands, so it's not so visible, and it can also be pushed under the shelf.
The screen on the scale, as previously mentioned, has become a color screen, which always makes things look nicer and visually better to see.
Find the Correct Body Fat Percentage and Improve Accuracy
You get your body fat percentage measured at the same time as your weight and other data. The body fat percentage shows the percentage of fat that your body contains. To improve Garmin Index S2 accuracy, it is important to go into Connect and make sure your activity level is set correctly. This made a big difference to my own since I hadn’t done this from the start, so remember it.
Why it is so and what influence I cannot explain to you, but it is from Garmin itself that this information was received when I wondered about my own body fat percentage.
You find this setting as follows:
- Go into More on your Garmin Connect App.
- Go into settings
- Go into User settings
- Go into Activity level and set it correctly.
You can see below where you are on the chart:
| Activity Class Chart | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Level | Description | Frequency | Time Per Week |
| 0 | No exercise | - | - |
| 1 | Occasional, light exercise | Once every two weeks | Less than 15 min. |
| 2 | 15 to 30 min. | ||
| 3 | Once a week | Approx. 30 min. | |
| 4 | Regular exercise and training | 2 to 3 times per week | Approx. 45 min. |
| 5 | 45 min. to 1 hour | ||
| 6 | 1 to 3 hours | ||
| 7 | 3 to 5 times per week | 3 to 7 hours | |
| 8 | Daily training | Almost daily | 7 to 11 hours |
| 9 | Daily | 11 to 15 hours | |
| 10 | More than 15 hours | ||
Summary
In many ways, this is a scale like many others, but how cool is it that it collects all your data in Garmin Connect, so you don't have to write it down. You can see how your form development correlates with your weight, etc. It’s really cool. I definitely use it a lot. Even during times when I am injured and don't exactly have a weight/form curve going the right way. But then it becomes even more fun to keep track when I'm back in full training again.
