REVIEW: Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 - a stability shoe you can count on!

The Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 has hit the market, and those of us who appreciate stability, shock absorption and zero frills are very happy! Here is a versatile high mileage training shoe that can be relied on. I have tested the Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 and here you can see or read my review!

With the Wave Inspire 18, Mizuno has kept everything that worked from the previous model - and that was quite a lot! No major changes have been made to the latest model, which means that we are able just to enjoy this shoe a little longer.

Review Mizuno Wave Inspire 18

The biggest update has been made to the upper. Here, Mizuno has managed to optimize the fit, so the Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 fits even better! They have used Dynamotion Fit to ensure that the fit is as comfortable as possible - an this really can be felt. The upper keeps my foot and midsole in contact, which is important for optimal use of the midsole and thus a good running experience. The heel cap provides decent support and with the memory foam padding, the experience of wearing this shoe is really good.

The seamless upper fits really well around my foot, and it just makes the experience even better knowing that the laces and lining in the upper are made of recycled materials. In addition, the Wave plate is produced using natural materials, so it is approx. 30% more sustainable!

The Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 features an X10 outsole. This means that I have a sure footing on the ground and the energy is used to propel me forward. In terms of your footing and toe off, this helps you to roll over the sole, so you are able to sense that all the components - upper, midsole and outsole - are working together.

A midsole with support, stability and shock absorption!

The soft midsole with Mizuno Enerzy and U4IC foam gives this shoe a really pleasant and comfortable feeling, without the sole being so high that I am about to lose my connection with the ground below. The Mizuno Enerzy foam in the heel gives a really soft feeling when I land, yet it's still firm enough to provide support.

And speaking of support, I would like to draw your attention to the Mizuno Wave - the support on the inside of the foot that guides the foot through the gait cycle. This harder plate is designed to guide the foot without overpronating too fast and too much. It goes all the way around the back of the sole, so that the foot is guided in all movements throughout the landing phase. Mizuno have chosen to keep their wave-like design, which is both functional and stylish.

What can the shoe be used for?

This is a versatile high mileage training shoe for those of you who want support and stability when you run. The Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 seems rather similar to the Saucony Guide, Nike Structure and Asics GT-2000. It can be used on long runs, where you need the shoe to provide support and bear a lot of the load, but it can also be great for the shorter runs too. For beginner runners, or those of you who run miles and miles as part of marathon training etc. - then the Mizuno Wave Inspire 18 is a great option!
