I tested the On Cloudstratus, On's most cushioned shoe to date. It's perfect for those with wide feet needing support, and it scores full points for style!

Note: The shoe's plate is a thermoplastic polymer, injected with other materials (including carbon, as far as we understand). It's slightly misleading when we call the plate a "carbon plate" in the video. Only On Cloudboom features a plate primarily made of carbon.

is a neutral running shoe, but due to the firm heel cap with extra support inside and the broad sole providing a stable base or platform, runners with mild to moderate pronation can use it.
Carbon plate and cushioning
The double layer of CloudTec® in the Cloudstratus makes this model the most cushioned in On's lineup, ensuring no compromise on comfort! One might think this affects the energy return, but with the built-in carbon plate, Speedboard, you get more speed and propulsion in take-off, while also gaining stability in lateral movements. The Speedboard plate is flexible lengthwise and rigid across.
However, if you expect the same extreme softness as shoes like HOKA Bondi and New Balance Fresh Foam More V3, we're not quite on that level. With you get comfort and bounce in a more firm shoe.
Wide running shoe with great comfort
For someone with narrow feet like me, the initial impression is that it's a bit too wide, but with its clever lacing system, the shoe fits quite well—once I figured it out! The lacing is a bit different than I'm used to with other shoes. Another thing that helped me boost comfort was wearing a slightly thicker sock, like a CEP compression ankle sock (click here). It gave me more of the soft feel I prefer.
Stylish & functional running shoe
chose to use different materials on the upper, giving the shoe a raw look that fits well with current running trends. It's an exclusive shoe that's both stylish and functional. The characteristic midsole for which is known comes in a more squared version here, which in my opinion, enhances the shoe's appearance.
All in all, On Cloudstratus is a really cool running shoe for those who want plenty of room and a super comfortable running experience on all runs.
