REVIEW: On Cloudstratus – max comfort and good shock absorption!

I have tested On Cloudstratus, which is On Running's most shock absorbing shoe to date. It is perfect for you with a wide foot and in need of support, and then it gets maximum points for looks!

Be attentive. The plate in the shoe is a thermo-plastic polymer that is injected with other materials (including carbon as far as we are aware). However, it is a little confusing when we call it a "carbon plate". It is only in the On Cloudboom that there is a plate with majorily carbon.

Are you fond of On Runnings spectacular design, great sole and smart lacing system, then you won't be disappointed with Cloudstratus.

The On Cloudstratus is the shoe for you with a wide foot that wants maximum comfort and good stability on your long, easy runs on solid ground. Cloudstratus is a neutral runnnig shoe, but due to the fixed heel cap with extra support on the inside, as well as the wide sole that provides a stable base under the foot, the runner with mild to moderate pronation will easily be able to run with it.

Speedboard and shock absorption

The double layer CloudTec® in On Cloudstratus makes this model the most shock-absorbing in Ons' shoe selection, so you will get a lot of comfort here! One would think that because of that, the feeling of great return energy would be reduced. But with the built-in carbon plate, Speedboard, you get more speed and propulsion, while at the same time providing stability in the lateral movements of the shoe.

However, I must say if you expect the same extreme softness found in shoes like Hoka Bondi and New Balance Fresh Foam More V3, then this shoe is not for you. With On Cloudstratus you get comfort and bounce in a firmer shoe.

Wide shoe with max comfort

I have a narrow foot, so my first impression is that it is a bit too wide for me, but with the smart lacing system the shoe fits quite well on my foot - I just needed to figure it out first! The lacing system is a bit different than what I'm used to from other shoes. Something else that increased the comfort for me in this shoe was to use a slightly thicker sock. It gave me a softer feel and better contact with the upper part of the shoe.

Running shoe with great looks!

On Running has chosen to use different materials on the upper part, giving it a raw look that aligns well with the running fashion today. It is an exclusive shoe that is both beautiful and functional. The characteristic midsole that On is known for, comes here in a more square version, which I think suits the shoe.

All in all is On Cloudstratus a really cool running shoe for you who would like a decent amount of room and a really comfortable running experience on all of your runs.
