Two years ago, I never expected to write this sentence in a review of a pair of running shoes from , but here it is: “PUMA has done it again”. The German sports giant is releasing one excellent running shoe after another. Without missing. And with 2 they've raised the bar even more.
Since they relaunched their running line a few years ago, they have proven to be a producer to take seriously! For it's nothing but quality products coming out, and all the running shoes have the same characteristics; they are all relatively light, fast, and agile (much like a real puma), in addition, they are also comfortable and have good grip.
PUMA Deviate Nitro 2 is no exception, but it has gotten even wilder. It is a trainer with many of the coolest technologies available on the market right now. There is the all-new PUMA Nitro Elite foam, a nitrogen-infused pebax material (if we dive into nerdy details, it's a nitrogen-infused version of the lightest and most responsive foam on the market), a PWRPLATE, which is a carbon composite plate, and PWRTAPE which is a very lightweight reinforcement of the upper.
PUMA Deviate Nitro 2 – Grotesque?
Listing all these things, I actually think it sounds a bit grotesque. I mean, it's a . Isn't it a bit much with all that flair? But when I run in the shoe, I don't think it's too much at all. I think: “This works really well”! Because it's a great feeling, and I don't even notice there's a carbon plate in the shoe, even though it undoubtedly adds stability and bounce.

PUMA Deviate Nitro 2 differs slightly from the classic trainer by being more versatile. The responsive foam and carbon plate mean you can easily pick up the pace in it, but it is also comfortable enough for your easy runs.
Puma Deviate Nitro 2 – Low weight and good grip
With a weight of 258 grams, I think it hits a sweet spot for a really good running shoe for daily training. There's plenty of comfort and grip, which usually weigh something, as rubber is a relatively heavy material, but at the same time, it's light enough that I don't feel weighed down.
How PUMA keeps making shoes that are light but still have really good grip keeps surprising me, but they apparently have found the formula. For PUMA Deviate Nitro 2 has excellent grip that can be used on regular runs on asphalt and pavement, but can also be easily taken on a trip in the woods – as long as you stay off technical trails.

Overall, PUMA Deviate Nitro 2 is an excellent and versatile running shoe that can be used by many. If you're a faster runner, you'll find it a wildly nice and light , whereas runners used to more classic running shoes will find it insanely versatile and fast.
