Test: Puma Magnify Nitro

A big, soft but still light and agile Puma

It almost defies nature.

A Puma can´t get this big. So padded. So wide. So soft. It shouldn´t be possible.

However, this Puma has been fed which has made it big, soft and fat. But its a Puma, so its still light and agile.

Well, this isn´t Animal Planet, so lets focus on the shoe.

Mileage accumulator with Nitro-pop

Magnify Nitro is Pumas high-mileage training shoe. Its the Puma running shoe containing most of the ingenious Nitro-foam. Its a true mileage accumulator which provides all the comfort you need mile after mile.

I think most people who hasn´t tried Pumas new running shoes would be really surprised if they tried out the Magnify Nitro. Even though the design really isn´t very inspiring, the Nitro foam in the midsole not only contributes plenty of cushioning but also adds a great deal of pop to provide lots of return energy.

Magnify Nitro

Safe and comfortable

The shoe is padded and soft. The knit material makes the shoe breathable and at no stage did I feel that my feet were overheating - but after all I have only tested the shoes during the fall.

There is plenty of room for your feet. The forefoot is spacious, so you can easily move your toes around. The heel cap is relatively soft but it still manages to keep the heel firm and provide a stable and secure gait.

Paw control

Shoe companies generally don´t pay enough attention to providing solid grip in their products. However, Puma is one of those few companies who represent an exception to that rule. They have developed a new system called Pumagrip which is engineered through a combination of a special rubber compound and a strategic pattern.

It works perfect for me and only some pretty big mud puddles would make me lose control. And don´t forget that Magnify Nitro is a road runner. Puma have sharpened their claws and provided this shoe with solid cat paws - to underline that Puma make excellent outsoles.

Boring look - top performance

If you want an exciting, high-mileage training shoe with lots of comfort, great return energy and a solid grip, Puma Magnify Nitro is an excellent choice. I do think that Puma should focus more on the visual design of the shoe. It looks a little boring and old-fashioned which, however, doesn´t match the sensation they provide as they are the best and most modern high-mileage training shoe I´ve tried in terms of performance.
