Since the launch of the Saucony Endorphin collection, its the Endorphin Speed & Pro which has mostly caught the headlines, but I don´t think that its going to be the case anymore. Thanks to the new version I think the Endorphin Shift 3 will make a big splash in the conscience of customers. The Endorphin Shift 3 has finally found its place among its sister shoes in the Endorphin collection because its lighter and the PWRRUN midsole now comes with improved quality which makes the Speedroll-technology now really able to unfold and also it offers a little more structure in the midsole which makes it more stable than its competitors in the maximalist range.
I have tested the Runshield version, an obvious choice of volume shoe for the long cold winter months, this water resistant version is surprisinly lighter than the normal version, and we like that.
Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 - Midsole:
Often I find that "not being able to feel the shoe under your feet" is a positve sign, and that wasn´t accidental in this case. But its not in a negative way, Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 is a shoe that works for and with you. The SpeedRoll-technology is really evident thanks to the high and slightly more firm midsole (39mm in heel and 34mm in the front foot). The Endorphin Shift 3 Runshield goes into the category of "maximalist shoes" along with shoes like New Balance Fresh Foam More v4 and Hoka One One Bondi 8, but Endorphin Shift 3 stands out by being lighter and more stable. Compared to other maximalist shoes I also have a sense of running in a flow-mode, and that is again thanks to the Speedroll-technology contrary to other maximalist shoes which, however, offer better cushioning.
With the high midsole you are provided with protection from the surface which is a clear advantage for a volume trainer, but the expression of the Endorphin Shift 3 is a little more stable than shoes in the same category among others thanks to the deeper Formfit (sole) construction, a sort of "nest" around the foot as well as a 4mm heeldrop. Another thing which Saucony and other brands have started implementing to create extra stability is this "gap" you can see under the sole and when you land it will center the load more in the middle of the foot and divide the load in this way - this technique is also used in Endorphin Shift 3.

Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 - Runshield upper?:
In this version you have a Runshield upper - its a water resistant, durable and ventilating ripstop mesh upper, it may feel a bit rigid but this material simply has this feeling. It makes it an obvious choice for the cold winter months of the year where you want a little extra protection against the weather conditions. A well-functioning upper which keeps its promises.

Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 - What to expect?
I think the Endorphin Shift 3 deserves its place in the Endorphin collection. Its a clear upgrade from the previous model, the new formular in the PWRRUN midsole adds a little more life to the Speedroll-technology and it really needed it.

Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 - Who and when?
A volume shoe that we all need but Endorphin Shift 3 Runshield is still designed for a special group of runners. Perhaps you are curious about the Speedroll technology or perhaps you want to try out a maximalist shoe for the first time but you don´t necessarily need the explicite softness that you can get in shoes from this category. A volume shoe is the most important tool in the toolbox for a runner besides the joy of running. Consequently its an important choice but I am confident that you will make the right choice with Endorphin Shift 3 Runshield if you want a volume trainer which will help you in your flow, a shoe which provides fast propulsion in your take-off.
