In the office, it's no secret I'm a big fan of Saucony Endorphin Speed line , and after the latest update from Saucony , I'm more in love with it than ever.

Simple, Yet Not So Simple! – Saucony Endorphin Speed 4

The design is deceptively straightforward, but execution is where the challenge lies. This shoe offers a fast, energetic, and bouncy running feel with an impressive forward roll. The upper is incredibly light yet surprisingly comfortable, making it ideal for longer runs. It's rare to find these traits coexisting so harmoniously, but when they do, the result is outstanding.

Endorphin Speed has carved a unique niche; depending on whom you ask, it might be classified as a racer, interval, or light daily trainer. This versatility is truly remarkable.

In my opinion, Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is the ultimate second shoe. It's perfect for faster runs but equally suited for longer distances. Furthermore, due to the foam's bead structure, ample outsole rubber, and quality upper, it has a longer lifespan than the typical racer.

Super Responsive – Saucony Endorphin Speed 4

Like the previous version, the midsole is called PWRRUN PB, and it's light and responsive. Made from PEBA, it's currently the fastest foam material on the market.
Embedded in the midsole is a nylon plate adding a bit of stiffness to the midfoot. This feature enhances the heel-to-toe transition, increases lift-off, and provides more. These qualities make Endorphin Speed 4 a fantastic ally for fast, enjoyable rides.

Comparing Speed 3 with Speed 4, changes in the midsole are small, only minor geometric adjustments.
However, the insoles have undergone a remarkable transformation. It may seem minor, but Saucony's ability to craft high-quality insoles that complement the midsole with comfortable and responsive foam is exceptional.
It's surprising other brands haven't adopted this approach. Unlike typical insoles that prioritize comfort, Saucony's Super Responsive Sockliner (SRS) provides a layer of highly responsive super foam for your feet to rebound from.

Lightweight Comfort – Saucony Endorphin Speed 4

Endorphin Speed 4 aims to offer you maximum comfort in a light, breathable package. It's impressive how Saucony managed to incorporate such comfort in the shoe's ultra-light and ventilated upper.

Not much has changed from Endorphin Speed 3. The mesh upper remains nearly the same but now includes a new partially sewn-in tongue, secured with small elastics on each side to stay in place, enhancing breathability.
Initially, the double-layered mesh tongue felt odd as I was used to a different design, but I quickly forgot about it once I tied the laces. I'm convinced it will contribute to the shoe's breathability, especially on warmer summer days.

The shoe width is quite standard, providing some room around the toes without being too spacious, and the sizing is accurate. My US size 11 fits perfectly, providing the necessary space on my longer runs.

Cornering Well – Saucony Endorphin Speed 4

Despite its low weight, the amount of outsole rubber on Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is surprising. The forefoot especially has extensive coverage, and the rubber seems slightly stickier in this new version.

My tests have been limited to wet winter roads in Denmark, and so far, I've no complaints about the grip. The rubber feels softer and provides better grip on landing—a welcome improvement, as Endorphin Speed 3 tended to slip slightly under more severe conditions.

A Winning Formula – Saucony Endorphin Speed 4

Saucony is aware of its winning formula and wisely chooses not to make drastic changes to the Endorphin Speed line. The design is highly regarded, and unless Saucony introduces new foam or technology that significantly surpasses current offerings, there's no need to reinvent the wheel.

In my opinion, Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 has improved on all features to varying degrees. For some, it's the ultimate lightweight daily trainer, while for others, like myself, it serves as the ultimate secondary shoe for faster, longer runs. Regardless, it continues to perform as well as its predecessor, and in my view, it's a shoe every speed-loving runner should try.
