Check out my personal review for Saucony Triumph 18 – a superb high-mileage training shoe for daily training. Watch the video review below.
VIDEO: Saucony Triumph 18
I went on to test Saucony Triumph 18, Saucony´s top model for the neutral runner.
Its no secret that I am a giant fan of the predecessor Triumph 17, so I was really been looking forward to testing it.
A FAVORITE FOR LONG-DISTANCE RUNNING
Triumph 18 is an extension to all the things I love about Triumph 17. And it has already become my favorite for long workouts and short restitutional runs...simply because it is incredibly comfortable. And I mean really comfortable!
There aren´t many shoes in the market which knows the art of wrapping your feet into soft material all the way round like this one. There is absolutely nothing that gnaws, squeezes your foot or is too tight. Its luxury comfort from the first second you put them on.
A SOFT AND COMFORTABLE RUNNING SHOE
Under your feet you will find an anatomically designed insole in addition to Sauconys premium shock absorbing material, PWRRUN+ which feels protective, soft, bouncy and lively. And despite the fact that the shoe is designed for longer runs at an easy-going pace then it also works quite well when you up the pace to my surprise.
UPDATES TO TRIUMPH 17
Compared to Triumph 17, the Triumph 18 has become a bit more flexible and a new midsole geometry has made it more snappy and faster than its weight would otherwise indicate.
The heel cap has also been updated to produce a slightly tighter fit and it generally provides an extra good hold on the backend of your feet. The upper is more streamlined and simple in its design but it is still very soft and comfortable around your feet.
SAUCONY RIDE 13 VS. SAUCONY TRIUMPH 18
Compared to another popular Saucony high-mileage training shoe (Ride 13), Triumph 18 is softer, more shock absorbing and more comfortable. On the other hand Ride 13 is lighter, faster and more versatile as it also works well with pacy runs as well as intervals.
CONCLUSION
If you are looking for a long-distance running shoe with max. shock absorption which manages to feel bouncy and lively then Saucony Triumph 18 is a great, great choice. Saucony has indeed managed to make an already superb shoe even better.
