When the temperature drops, you naturally still want to run. To make it comfortable, warm tights are essential. In this article, we explain the benefits of winter tights
Cold weather should not stop you from running. Besides your and your , you need good running tights to keep the cold out.
Temperatures start to fall, making tights a great choice to keep legs warm. If you sweat, they effectively wick moisture away, keeping you dry.
Winter training is often the hardest time to stay motivated. Bright mornings feel distant, and icy roads require caution.
Winter's cold can be a challenge for runners trying to maintain training: A cold body is vulnerable to illness and injury, which can disrupt regular training.
Thus, it's wise to protect yourself from the cold and invest in warm running clothes to hopefully avoid spending money on physio and time on the couch.
Technologies
Among winter tights, you'll often find various technologies designed to keep you warm during activity without compromising breathability and flexibility. However, there may be slight compromises compared to standard running pants and tights.
Wind-resistant Tights
Windstop materials are often incorporated in the front of winter tights, featuring stronger fabric to prevent direct wind chill.
Strategic panels ensure a good fit, as the material's function arises from its less flexible nature. Therefore, panels are usually at the front, allowing breathability and movement in the softer polyester material.
Water-repellent Tights
If you're the type who doesn't let rain stop you, water-repellent tights are excellent. Different fabrics achieve water resistance in running pants.
Again, there's a small compromise: breathability. But when warmth is the goal, this isn't bad. In extreme cold, layer these over regular tights to keep warm.
If you want extra warm pants and are okay with reduced breathability, look for waterproof running pants; they keep you dry but may feel a bit stuffy for some.
Reflective
Winter tights often focus on visibility with reflectors. This ensures you're seen in the dark and safe during each workout. It's wise to use lights if you run before sunrise or after sunset.
