Winter's cold can be problematic for runners who manage to keep training consistent: A cold body is vulnerable to illness and injuries, potentially disrupting training regularity.

Among winter tights, you'll often find a range of technologies that brands call different things. They're all designed to keep you warm during activity, without compromising breathability and flexibility. However, there's often a slight compromise compared to regular running pants and tights.
Wind-Resistant Tights
Winter tights often incorporate windstop material on the front. This is a heavier fabric piece that ensures the wind doesn't directly make you cold.
Strategic panels ensure that the tights still fit well, as the material's function comes from its less flexible model. Thus, you almost always find the panels in the front, allowing you to breathe and move freely in the softer polyester material.
Water-Resistant Tights
If you're not stopped by rain, water-resistant tights are excellent. Using different materials can achieve water-resistant running pants.
Again, there's a slight compromise: breathability. But when warmth is the goal, this isn't a bad trade-off. If it's really cold, layer these over regular tights to stay warm.
If you want extra warm pants and are okay with compromising breathability, look for waterproof running pants; they keep you completely dry but can feel a bit confining for some.
Reflective
Winter tights often have a sensible focus on reflectors. This way, you can be seen in the dark and safely complete each training session. It's a good idea to have lights on if you're running before sunrise or after sunset.
