It's no secret that 1 and 2 have been my favorite running shoes in recent years. Both shoes are so versatile, fast, and perfect for both quick and easy days. So when they changed the whole midsole on the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3, I was a bit nervous if they'd removed the magic from the shoe. But in short; they absolutely did not. It's amazing!
Make no mistake. There are big changes, but most of them, I think, are really good additions to the shoe, making it even more versatile – both as a and a fast shoe.
The difference between the two latest versions and 3 is mainly that wanted to create a bigger difference between Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 and 3, and the gap is larger than in previous editions. Now, Saucony Endorphin 3 is even lighter and more competition-focused, while Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 is more of a training shoe.
It's worth noting that 3 has made this transformation without gaining weight – in fact, our weighing showed it's gotten a few grams lighter.
Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 – More of the Good Stuff!
Let's jump right into all the good stuff! The midsole has been changed with a softer version of the PWRRUN PB foam. The base is slightly wider and the sole is higher, and there's a new flexible s-shaped plastic plate. On the shoe's side, you can see the wings from the plate sticking out, ensuring you get enough stability with the new flexible midsole.
The small amount of criticism Endorphin Speed 1 and 2 received was primarily due to a lack of stability. But with the new wider base – especially around the heel – and the new wings on the plate, you get more stability with the new
, making it a better option for many people who need some stability.
When you add a bit more stability and a little more softness, you get a shoe that's even more forgiving on long runs and can serve as a light tempo or training shoe. But the stability is very subtle – it's still a neutral running shoe!

The midsole feels noticeably softer in the heel, and overall, it's a bit bouncier than before. Visually, you can clearly see the difference between Endorphin Speed 2 and 3, especially when looking at how much foam is in the heel.
It's become even better for easy recovery runs due to the soft feel, but it's when you pick up the pace that it becomes really fun. At faster speeds, it feels light and efficient, and the SPEEDROLL technology in the midsole works as it should, rolling me into the next stride.
It should be mandatory for all runners who want to have fun on the road to try Saucony Endorphin Speed 3. Big words, I know, but defines how a lightweight training/tempo shoe should be.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 – Typically Saucony
The upper is slightly more traditional compared to the double-layer mesh on Saucony Endorphin Speed 2. But the upper is still made of a thin and breathable mesh, light enough for such a fast shoe. There's plenty of room for a wider midfoot than mine, and the shoe can also be laced to fit a more standard foot. There have been no challenges getting the shoe to fit as it should, and it fits securely from the first time you put it on!
knows what they're doing with these lightweight shoes. You can always remove elements to make a shoe lighter, but I think Saucony has found a good balance focusing on both weight and comfort.

The tongue is semi-attached and reasonably thin, so it stays put when you run, but it doesn't make the shoe less breathable. Speaking of breathability; I haven't had any issues in the warm Danish summer. I can actually feel the wind quite a bit on my toes when running in Endorphin Speed 3.
The fit is close to perfect for my foot. I especially love how my forefoot has enough space without feeling clunky. While some competitors are moving towards transparent uppers that are stiffer and more static, Saucony sticks to creating classic and more adjustable fits, which I prefer.
Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 – Shoe of the Year?
I think this shoe does everything it promises – and more! I would recommend it to almost any runner. Especially if you want a light and fast shoe that can do it all.
I love , but Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 stands on its own pedestal for me, and it will take some exceptionally cool shoes for me not to name it the shoe of the year!
